DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED AREA
Borough Outline
There are 22 wards within Hillingdon and electoral wards vary greatly in size, from fewer than
a 100 residents to over 30,000. Due to the nature of the borough most of the HMOs are
concentrated south of the A40 down to Heathrow airport. Our intention has always been for
an additional licensing scheme to cover the thirteen wards stretching from Uxbridge down to
Heathrow airport. This will catch Brunel University and the many transient workers based
around Heathrow airport and the surrounding villages. Our current records show only 186
known HMOs in the nine wards north of the A40 compared to 1500+ in the south; hence the
reason for not applying a borough wide scheme.
