The
Bible Speaks

Remembrance
is the heart of
our Catholic
Faith. When we gather at
the Eucharist The Holy Spirit
overshadows our remembrance
and makes Christ’s once-andforever
Sacrifice of Himself on
the Cross real and present such
that a new and glorious future
is opened to us individually and
as a people. We are changed by
the power of remembrance.
Remembrance of
September 11 th 2001 makes us
realize that our beloved country
and we have been changed.
We can never be the same
again, and what we shall be as
a people and a nation is not
yet clear. The Events of 9/11
rank with the American Civil
War as jumping off points for
the American Civilization. Our
human caravan keeps rolling
on, but where it will go and
what it will be owe much to the
memory of what we were and
will never be again: Beloved, we
are God’s children now; it does
not yet appear what we shall
be, but we know that when He
appears we shall be like Him,
for we shall see Him as He is.
(1 Jn 3:2)
We have a duty to
remember that tragic and
infamous day with all of its
horror; anything less would
be a failure of fellowship
with those thousands who
perished and their grieving
families whose only solace is
remembrance. On Tuesday
every person of good will
should stop and with heads
bowed, pray for the repose of
innocent souls and tortured
souls who linger, their breasts
swollen with pride and grief.
Where towers once
reached for the sky now
caverns plumb watery
depths—the final resting
place of those loved ones
whose remains were
never returned to
1,717 families.
American Airlines

Trade Center
North at 8:46
a.m.; United
Airlines Flight
175 with 60 souls
onboard struck the
2 World Trade
Center South
at 9:05 a.m.
Those great
New York
landmarks
survived
for 56 minutes and 102
minutes respectively—they
fell in 12 seconds killing 2,819
people. Of that number were
343 NYFD firefighters and
paramedics, 23 NYPD officers
and 37 Port Authority Officers.
1,609 people lost a spouse or
partner and 3,051 children lost
a parent. The 9/11 Memorial
summons us to them: May
the lives remembered,
the deeds recognized, and
the spirit reawakened be
eternal beacons, which
reaffirm respect for
life, strengthen our
resolve to preserve
freedom, and inspire
an end to hatred,
ignorance and
intolerance.

honor the 184 people whose
lives were lost, their families,
and all who sacrifice that we
may live in freedom. We will
never forget. The memorial
is a giant timeline—the zero
line being September 11, 2001
9:37 A.M., which spreads out in
chronological waves to lift each
victim with a unique memorial
to mark his birth and common
death. The youngest victim was
three-year-old Dana Falkenberg
and the oldest was John D.
Yamnicky, 71, a Navy Vet.
The Flight 93 Memorial
is dedicated to the 47 Citizen
Heroes who knowingly,
consciously and courageously
sacrificed themselves to spare
the innocent lives of countless,
unknown others: May all who
visit this place remember the
collective acts of courage and
sacrifice of the passengers
and crew, revere this hallowed
ground as the final resting
place of those heroes, and
reflect on the power of
individuals who choose to
make a difference. Now known
as Sacred Ground, the crash
site is located near Stonycreek
Township in Somerset County,
Pennsylvania. A coal strip mine
under reclamation, it had not
recovered from the first assault
of violent men before this last
indignity at the hands of Islamic
Terrorist Hijackers. At the
christening of the USS Somerset,
the last of three U.S. Navy
ships named for 9/11 attack
sites, Rear Adm. David Lewis
said: The man and women
of Flight 93 thought they
were going to San Francisco
to work, to play, to learn; to
live their lives in peace while
others guarded them. Instead
they found themselves in a
war, on the front lines, in the
opening battle. It was a new
kind of war, one with new
rules, maybe no rules at all.
They had no preparation, no
training, no guidance. And
they performed superbly. USS
Somerset bears in her bow the
steel from the bucket of an
enormous coal dragline that
was used by citizen volunteers
and rescue workers to hang an
American flag over the Flight
93crash site. Patrick White,
president of Families of Flight
93, was the principal speaker
at the christening: We thank
our Nation for honoring
and remembering those 40
aboard Flight 93 with this
extraordinary tribute, the
‘Somerset’. She and her
steadfast crew—now and in
the future—are both a living
tribute and vigilant reminder
of sacrifice made to protect
the lives of unknown others.

of our deepest reverence and
gratitude because they have
paid a terrible price in blood,
and suffering and hardships for
America to rise more glorious
from the funeral pyres of her

gave the last full measure of
devotion - that we here highly

Affectionately and

mysterious ways: the aroma
of piety, the gift of prophecy,
the discernment of spirits and
the reading of souls in the
confessional and miraculous

manifestation of God’s favor
was the Stigmata, the wounds
he bore for Christ in his own
body
for 50 years.

graciously
endowed St. Thomas More
Parish with a Statue of Saint
Pio for the purpose of public
and private devotion and
intercession. The stone
carving is nearly complete
and will stand outside and
opposite the main Church
entrance. You may wish
to collaborate with Father
DeVita by contributing to
the landscaping, candle
stands and lighting of the
Padre Pio Shrine. We are
extremely thankful to God
for calling Father DeVita to
the sacred priesthood and
for his continuing ministry
to the faithful of St. Thomas

BOYNTON BEACH | In August,
St. Thomas More Preschool
saw the summer camp
program hitting its stride
with children having fun during
its final sessions.
Instruction in art and the
love of Christ accounted for
most of the action. Now the
school is gearing up for the
beggining of the new school
year and openings are available
for children ages 30
months to 4 years old.
"All of the children have to
do their morning prayers and
grace before meals," said
school director Adriana Palazzi
about the Catholic camp
and school with the theme
"A loving, caring place to
grow."
"We work with the children to
learn the love of Jesus and to
respect others," the 11-year
veteran of the school added.
The camp served 25 to 30
children each week during
the summer months and programs
ran for eight weeks. A
mother who was at the camp
when the Florida Catholic
visited said, "They do a great
job here." (The parishioner of
St. Thomas More and mother
of a 3-year-old and a 5-yearold
wished to remain anonymous.)
"The teachers are
loving and caring with the
children attended here and
had a great experience."
St. Thomas More Preschool
is located on the gorunds of
St. Thomas More Parish in
Boynton Beach. The school
offers special programs including
Spanish, music,
technology and religion. The
facility has a small student
body, but large faculty and
well equipped classrooms.
"We are open to members of
all faiths," Palazzi said. "We
still have openings."

My Blessing Light CANDLE DISPENSER
The traditional practice of lighting a candle, offering a prayer and
appealing through the Company of Saints for divine assistance in
the hour of deepest need is a profoundly Catholic confidence that
God is moved to mercy by the simplest human act.
Located next to the Grotto,
MY BLESSING LIGHT dispenses candles of various colors,
qualities and duration, for modest fees.
The Youth Group at Saint Thomas More will be
making blankets to donate to Project Linus. The
Mission of Project Linus is to Provide love, a sense
of security, warmth and comfort to children who
are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need
through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and
afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.”
Blankets made by our students will be distributed
to Palm Beach County children in need shelters,
hospitals and social service agencies.

available every week if you would like to make a
donation in honor of a loved one. Please remember
that requests should be made at least two weeks
prior to the requested date. Payments must be
made in full in order to reserve a specific date.

New
Season of Service
Date: 11/19/2012
Parishioners, our new Season of Service will be happening on
November 19th 2012. Please donate your time and efforts and join
the clergy and staff of Saint Thomas More as they attend to much
needed housekeeping items in the House of Our Lord.
Every year we look for cleaners, painters, carpenters and any constructionminded
individuals to assist us while we ensure that the facilities of the
parish are worthy of His Presence. Members of the ministries and groups
that routinely use our facilities are strongly encouraged to help!

để con cất tiếng ngợi khen Ngài.”
Nhiều người Công Giáo vẫn quen xưng tội “kêu tên
Đức Chúa trời vô cớ ” khi họ theo thói quen lỡ miệng
kêu lên ‘Lạy Chúa’ mà không có lý do gì. Trong khi
đó lỡ miệng nói oan cho người khác, chỉ trích nặng nề,
cố tình nhục mạ, gán cho kẻ khác những danh từ thấp
hèn, và gán trên miệng kẻ khác những lời lẽ vô căn cứ,
thì lại không thấy lỗi lầm gì hết.
“Lạy Chúa, xin mở tai con,
để con nghe lời giáo huấn của Chúa.”
Để những lời lẽ con nói với người anh em trở nên
những lời ngợi khen Chúa, những lời lẽ của tình
thương và của sự thật.
Ngày Hội Ngộ Hằng Năm của các chị em
là cơ hội để hâm nóng sức sống, ý nghĩa và
nghị lực , nhờ sự hổ trợ tinh thần của tình
chị em trong Đức Kitô.
Ban Tổ Chức thiết tha kính mời sự tham dự
của các chị em Việt Nam.

THỪA TÁC VỤ BÀN THỜ - GIÚP LỄ.
Linh mục phụ trách và Ban Phụng Vụ giáo xứ cám ơn những anh chị em và các thiếu niên tham gia phục vụ
trong sinh hoạt phụng vụ qua việc giúp lễ. Những thiếu niên Việt Nam giúp lễ sáng Chúa Nhật nói lên ý nghĩa sự hiệp
nhất của công đoàn với giáo xứ trong một Hội Thánh Duy Nhất. Việc giúp lễ trong phụng vụ thánh của cộng đoàn là
một đặc ân, để qua những nghi thức được chuẩn bị qua những bàn tay trẻ, làm cho tâm hồn chúng được lớn lên gần gủi
với mầu nhiệm đức tin của cộng đoàn.
Cha kêu gọi các thiếu niên cũng như phụ huynh để ý và tận tâm hơn về phiên giúp lễ. Cô Lan đã chuẩn bị lịch
trình trong năm cho phiên giúp lễ, thì xin anh chị em giúp con mình làm tròn bổn phận.
FAITH FORMATION - NĂM HỌC GIÁO LÝ
2012 –2013
Chương trình giáo lý sẽ bắt đầu vào tuần
17 tháng Chín, 2012. Phụ Huynh có con
em học giáo lý sẽ phải dự một buổi
hướng dẩn lúc 6:15 PM ngày thứ Hai,
ngày 10 tháng Chín tại nhà thờ lớn.
