The Hour of The 

Lord Jesus has 

become a week in 

our lives, Holy Week. We 

now begin the Octave 

of Easter, the eight 

days which our ancient 

Eastern Church referred 

to as Bright Week. 

Fasting has become 

Feasting. In fact, our 

Byzantine Church goes 

so far as to forbid fasting 

during these days. 

Death must give way 

to the bright promise 

of immortality: For 

this perishable nature 

must put on the 

imperishable, and this 

mortal nature must put 

on immortality. When 

the perishable puts 

on the imperishable, 

and the mortal puts on 

immortality, then shall 

come to pass the saying 

that is written: ‘Death 

is swallowed up in 

victory. O death, where 

is thy victory? O death, 

where is thy sting?’ (1 

Cor 15:53-5) The newly

We have all stepped 

out of the darkness into 

the Easter Light of Christ 

Who dispels all darkness: 

Therefore it is said, 

‘Awake, O sleeper, and 

arise from the dead, and 

Christ shall give you 

light.’ Look carefully 

then how you walk, not 

as unwise men but as 

wise, making the most 

of the time, because the 

days are evil. (Eph 5:14- 

6) Guard against a return 

to the shadow-life, for 

there is something about 

us and in us that prefers 

the shadow-existence to 

the bright light of life: 

Therefore be careful 

lest the light in you be 

darkness. If then your 

whole body is full of 

light, having no part 

dark, it will be wholly 

bright, as when a lamp 

with its rays gives you 

light. (Lk 11:35-6) 

You see, it is easier, 

more in our nature, to 

believe in evil and death 

and to withdraw our faith 

in man than to believe in 

good and life and to put 

our faith in man.

Don’t let your light fade 

to shadow, the blaze of 

your love become the soft

I wish to inform all 

ministers and parishioners 

of the circumstances that 

have persisted for too long 

in the Blessed Sacrament 

Chapel here at St. Thomas 

More Parish. 

Access to this chapel was 

restricted to St. Thomas 

More Parishioners who 

were issued the access code 

with the understanding 

that it was not to be 

shared. Unfortunately this 

code is regularly traded 

among people who have 

no connection with our 

parish. As a result, the 

chapel has become the 

scene of unruly, dangerous 

and even unseemly conduct 

by persons unknown that 

have gained access to the 

chapel door code. 

Screaming, crying and 

loud group meetings are 

taking place in the chapel 

into the wee hours of the 

morning. Of course we 

have empathy for 

people who are 

in distress and 

calling out to 

The Lord for 

help in his 

or her 

own way. But the chapel 

is connected directly to the 

Rectory, and we priests are 

often awakened during the 

night with all manner of 

commotion coming from 

there. 

Frequently many burning 

candles are left unattended 

by persons unknown. The 

containers are homemade 

 

material. Styrene candles 

when burned emit a black 

discharge that is poisonous. 

Recently I found 25 burning 

candles placed all about the 

chapel. The styrene had 

become a burning liquid 

 

to be burned alive in the 

rectory if this continues. 

Persons are throwing 

money over the protective 

glass to rain down on the 

tabernacle. It is irreverent 

and an invitation to thieves 

to commit vandalism. And 

there are more unfortunate 

and unseemly occurrences 

that do not bear mention 

in polite company. 

Signs, passive procedures 

and camera surveillance 

have proven ineffective. 

It is past time that I take 

prudent and decisive 

action to address this 

distressing and frankly 

dangerous situation. 

After consultation with 

the priests, who legitimately 

require a tranquil and safe 

place to live, the Eucharistic 

Ministers who visit the 

homebound and sick with 

Holy Communion and other 

STM parishioners who 

frequent the chapel, I have 

decided to make a Priest’s 

Chapel for the resident 

clergy to offer unscheduled 

Masses and prayers in 

private. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

There are Perpetual 

Adoration Chapels at 

nearby parishes designed 

to ensure the safety of the 

visitor and chapel and the 

integrity of The Blessed 

Sacrament. Of course 

St. Thomas More Parish 

Church and Daily Mass 

Chapel remain open every 

day for private visits from 

6:00 in the morning until 

6:00 in the evening.

Meditation Garden of St. Peregrine

The LORD God said unto 

David His servant: With 

all your heart you wanted 

to build a temple for my Name. 

It is good that you wanted to do 

that. (1 Kg 8:18) The late Rev. 

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was 

inspired by God’s pleasure to 

 

Dreams in which he says: Each 

of you …in some way is working 

towards some kind of temple. 

The struggle is always there. Its 

gets discouraging some times… 

well, that is the story of life. And 

the thing that makes me happy 

is that I can hear a voice crying 

through the vista of time, saying: 

It may not come today or 

it may not come tomorrow, but 

it is well that it is within thine 

heart…Thank God that we have 

hearts to put something meaningful 

into. 

Our St. Peregrine Garden is 

such a temple. It is a temple of 

honor and of memory to those 

who carry the burden of cancer 

as victims and survivors, and to 

those who helped them bear the 

load. It’s path many have and 

alas will walk in this life. It can 

be a lonely path with only Jesus 

to walk beside you through the 

lonesome valley. It too often is 

the last walk we will take because 

it leads to that 

ultimate rendezvous between 

rection. 

It can be a miraculous 

journey where you meet Jesus 

Christ the Healer along the way, 

as it was for St. Peregrine the 

Cancer-Saint. It is always in 

our hearts that with the help of 

God’s amazing grace and our 

prayers joined to those of The 

Saint the hard path will lead to 

that greatest news—cancer free! 

As temples ourselves we carry 

the Names and the inspirations 

of our loved ones who lived 

heroically with cancer. It fell to 

us spouses, children, friends or 

kind caregivers to accompany 

them, to love them, to minister 

to their bodies and to be witnesses 

to their nobility. Their 

Names are written in our hearts, 

but we, like them, must one

day lay down our mortality for 

immortality. We must not lay 

down their Names with us. 

For the sake of their Names 

and their lives we have it in our 

hearts to build this temple of 

St. Peregrine. We want them to 

be remembered, their Names 

sung long after all of us have 

gone and a place to mark their 

passing along the road of life. 

The Bible tells us: Have regard 

to thy name; for that shall continue 

with thee above a thousand 

great treasures of gold. A 

good life hath but few days: but 

a good name endureth for ever. 

(Sirach 41:12-13) This Memorial 

Path marks the struggle and 

the Memorial Wall perpetuates 

the Names from one generation 

to the next at 

St. Thomas More Church. 

It is the nature of life that much 

will be left undone when The 

LORD calls us from this world to 

Himself. This Memorial should 

not be one of them. Endow a 

brick in the path or a plaque on 

the wall to proclaim your love 

and their Good Name. With the 

memorial they will be remembered 

and prayed for forever in 

St. Thomas More.

Deseo informar a 

todos los ministros 

y feligreses de los 

constantes inconvenientes 

que durante mucho 

tiempo se han suscitado 

en la Capilla del Santísimo 

Sacramento aquí en 

nuestra parroquia. 

En primer lugar el acceso 

a esta capilla se limito solo 

a feligreses de la parroquia 

por tal motivo se creó un 

código que solo debía ser 

usado estrictamente por 

los miembros de nuestra 

Iglesia. Lamentablemente 

dicho código fue 

compartido con personas 

que no tienen ninguna 

relación con nuestra 

parroquia. Como resultado 

la Capilla se ha convertido 

en escenario de conducta 

impropia y peligrosa 

causada por personas 

que han tenido acceso de 

alguna u otra manera al 

código de la puerta. Grupos 

escandalosos con gritos 

y llantos han sido 

una constante 

que se extiende 

hasta altas 

horas de la 

madrugada. Cabe destacar 

que somos solidarios con 

todas las personas que 

tienen problemas, están 

desesperados y vienen 

a suplicar la ayuda de 

Dios y sabemos que cada 

persona tiene su propia 

manera de clamar por 

ayuda, sin embrago la 

Capilla está conectada a 

la casa de los sacerdotes y 

nosotros constantemente 

despertamos sobre 

exaltados debido a los 

gritos y conmociones que 

provienen de la Capilla. 

Con frecuencia dejan 

velas encendidas sin tomar 

las debidas precauciones, 

las mismas son colocadas 

en envases de fabricación 

casera de material volátil 

 

que son manufacturadas 

de materiales sintéticos 

emiten un humo negro que 

por lo general es toxico, 

recientemente encontré 25 

velas encendidas por toda 

la capilla dejando el piso 

negro de las emisiones de 

este material toxico, nos 

van a quemar vivos si esta 

situación persiste. 

Por otro lado algunas 

personas que visitan la 

capilla se han dado a la 

tarea de lanzar dinero 

detrás del vidrio que 

protege el Tabernáculo, 

este es un acto irreverente 

y una invitación a los 

ladrones a cometer actos de 

vandalismo. Han existido 

mas hechos lamentables e 

indecorosos que no vale la 

pena mencionar. 

Todos los dispositivos 

de seguridad que sean 

implementado han resultado 

 

ya es hora de que yo tome 

acción prudente y decisiva 

para hacer frente a esta 

situación penosa y peligrosa.

Xin Quí Ph Huynh ghi danh cho con hc chng trình giáo lý nm 2012-2013. Ch ghi 

danh t 16 Tháng Tn 16 tháng Nm, 2012, vào ngày th Hai, th Ba, th T, t 3:30 PM - 

7:00 PM. Sau thi ghi danh, vn phòng giáo lý s không nhn n tr. Do ó ai có con em hc 

giáo lý xin chú ý. 

Giáo dc c tin là iu cn thit phi làm cho con em bao lâu chúng còn i n trng. 

Nhiu ph huynh sai lm cho con em i hc giáo lý cách ti thiu ch va cho “Giáo hi 

cc chng ã” ban các bí tích cho chúng. c tin ca con em nm trong tay quí v.
