General Information
We’re glad you’ve joined us in Orlando
to celebrate all that is great about Florida
communities! This year’s conference will
continue our focus on learning, networking and
idea-sharing. Through informative workshops,
enlightening roundtable discussions and
timely candidate forums, you’ll receive lots of
education and ideas to bring back home to use
in your city.
Please check your program carefully to
determine in advance the exact location of
your committee meetings, workshops, general
sessions, group sessions, meal functions and
entertainment. A copy of the meeting space
floor plan is included on the inside back cover
for your convenience.
A packet of conference information was sent
to all cities concerning registration of voting
delegates, submission of proposed resolutions,
etc. If you have any questions concerning
conference activities, please check with the
Florida League of Cities’ registration desk.
Registration
Everyone attending the Florida League of
Cities Annual Conference must register. This
includes all delegates and their families, guests,
speakers, exhibitors, sponsors and news media
representatives.
Registration will take place at the Palms
Registration Desk Thursday through Saturday as
follows:
Thursday, August 11 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Friday, August 12 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Saturday, August 13 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Badges/Ribbons
Please wear your conference badge to all
functions, including social events. Ribbons signify
FLC officers, exhibitors, sponsors and special
conference assignments. Those responsible
for conference activities will be wearing white
“staff” ribbons to help you identify them should
you require assistance.
Attendees with exhibit hall only passes (for nonregistered
guest attendees) will wear colored
badges. Please ask at the FLC registration desk
for information.
Audio and Video Recording
As a popular service for our delegates, most of
our sessions and workshops will be recorded.
These CDs will be available for purchase near
the FLC registration desk.
Select general sessions and workshops will be
video recorded and posted to our Web site after
the conference.
Electronic Devices
As a courtesy to your colleagues and speakers,
please turn off cell phones, BlackBerries and
other electronic devices at the beginning of
each session.
Parking
FLC has secured the reduced rate of $5.00 per
day for self-parking and $14.00 per day for valet
parking at the Marriott World Center.
FLC Bookstore
Richard Florida is the author of several books. A
“bookstore” will be open during the conference
to purchase many of these titles, and you’ll
have the opportunity to have them signed after
Friday’s general session. The bookstore is located
in the Crystal Ballroom Foyer. Rick Baker, former
mayor of St. Petersburg, has also written a book
which you will receive with your conference
give-away at the League’s booth inside the
exhibit hall. He will also be available to sign
copies after his workshop on Friday afternoon.
