community in Hallandale Beach that serves to<br />

enrich, educate and entertain the community.<br />

Opening in the summer <strong>of</strong> 2009 as a community<br />

based cultural center, the Palms Center for the<br />

Arts provides for creative and innovative projects<br />

<strong>of</strong> local, state and national artists with a corridor<br />

<strong>of</strong> student art-at-work projects and instruction<br />

in dance, drama/theatre, jazz and marching<br />

band, African drumming/dance, guitar, piano,<br />

voice, recording engineering, art, graphic<br />

design, at-risk arts education, arts-at-work job<br />

training programs and so much more.<br />

Technology Center<br />

Need to check the local news? Are you looking<br />

for that important e-mail? Just want to browse<br />

the Internet or catch up on some work? The<br />

<strong>Florida</strong> <strong>League</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Cities</strong> Technology Center<br />

provides you the perfect place to do all that<br />

with eight PCs and staff to assist you. Please note<br />

that children must be supervised while in this<br />

area.<br />

Voting Delegates – Business Session<br />

The annual Business Session will begin at 9:00<br />

a.m. on Saturday, August 13, for consideration<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>ficer and board <strong>of</strong> director elections,<br />

committee reports, resolutions and other<br />

business.<br />

Each municipality was asked to designate a<br />

voting delegate. Officials may check at the<br />

FLC registration desk to confirm these names.<br />

Delegates should sit in the “Voting Delegates”<br />

section <strong>of</strong> the Business Session to ensure the<br />

voting process is conducted as smoothly as<br />

possible.<br />

Press Room<br />

A press room will be available on Thursday,<br />

August 11 from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.; Friday,<br />

August 12 from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.; and<br />

Saturday, August 13 from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.<br />

in the Boston Room.<br />

Saturday Night Childcare<br />

Childcare services will be available on Saturday,<br />

August 13, from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. during<br />

the FLC Arts Festival. This service, provided by the<br />

<strong>League</strong> through Sitter Solutions, will be <strong>of</strong>fered at<br />

no charge, but pre-registration is required.<br />

The <strong>League</strong> will provide pizza, popcorn and<br />

drinks. Sitter Solutions will provide quality<br />

childcare with loads <strong>of</strong> activities and games.<br />

Toys will be provided for younger children, as<br />

well as videos for quiet time. Pillows and blankets<br />

will also be available.<br />

The Marriott provides a pr<strong>of</strong>essional concierge<br />

desk to answer all questions regarding what to<br />

as brochures on area attractions,<br />

concierge desk is located in<br />

the main lobby.
