Hungary
Energy policy
The Hungarian government is committed in its
2006-2010 national plan to renew Hungary’s energy
policy while paying attention to “the safety of
supply, competitiveness and the requirement of
sustainability. The continuity of energy supply will
be secured, the quality of supply improved and
energy efficiency promoted”.
The government recognises that in order to reduce
the relative energy consumption rates that are
higher in Hungary than in the international arena,
it will have to lay more emphasis on supporting
projects targeting energy efficiency and the use of
renewable energy sources.
Ireland
Energy performance certificates are required on
new dwellings from 1 January 2007 and all other
buildings from 1 January 2008. They will be required
on existing buildings from 1 January 2009 and will
be issued by trained and certified consultants. The
CEN compliance procedure will be developed under
developments of EN 832 and PRENISO 13790. It
is estimated that 150,000 houses will be registered
and the Building Control (Amendment) Bill 2005
requires mandatory certifications.
