7 Implementation Gold Coast Marathon 7 Implementation To enable the tourism product investment and infrastructure vision to be realised in the Gold Coast and Hinterland in an effective and timely manner, a number of implementation mechanism are necessary. Tourism and Events Queensland working in partnership with Gold Coast City Council, Gold Coast Tourism, the Queensland Government and Regional Development Australia (RDA), will be the key influencers in prioritising and advocating the implementation of the TOP. In addition, Gold Coast City Council has recently endorsed a coordinated strategic approach to tourism with the development of a whole-of-city Destination Management Plan to 2020, including prioritising key industry, infrastructure and product development projects with a focus on attracting investment and promoting the city. The plan will identify actions in order to realise projects identified in the Tourism Opportunity Plan. This plan has been developed for the benefit of Local, State and Federal Government agencies, regional economic development agencies, regional and local tourism organisations, investors and developers and tourism industry operators. It is envisaged that this document can proactively assist with securing future funds via government grants, sponsorships and business partnerships to ensure that the priority projects become a reality for the Gold Coast and Hinterland region.
