Edumeds delivers books to all schools,<br />
regardless of location and distance from<br />
their three retail branches. One of their needs<br />
was to manage back orders and reconcile<br />
accounts for customers, some of which<br />
do not have the skills or communication<br />
possibilities to manage their own back<br />
orders and accounts.<br />
Handling back orders<br />
Edumeds spent more than a year searching<br />
for a flexible yet cost effective solution.<br />
They required one which could handle<br />
back orders, flexible pricing and advanced<br />
dependable stock control in a simple and<br />
efficient way. Other key reasons for choosing<br />
<strong>HansaWorld</strong> were the system’s speed over<br />
slow networks and the ability to run on old<br />
hardware.<br />

Edumeds has 21 users and uses the basic<br />
financial modules, Quotations, <strong>Sales</strong> Orders,<br />
POS and Stock Control. It was also important<br />
for Edumeds that <strong>HansaWorld</strong> could be<br />
customised easily. For example, Edumeds<br />
shows on each invoice the amount of<br />
books ordered, delivered, outstanding<br />
and invoiced, so that each invoice is also a<br />
statement of the status of the order for easy<br />
reconciliation by the customer.<br />
The implementation was carried out at the<br />
quiet time of year as schools were closed<br />
for summer holidays. “The implementation<br />
was carried out professionally and the team<br />
kept strictly to the proven <strong>HansaWorld</strong><br />
Implementation Methodology, which<br />
have also set up a Skype Group account which<br />
allows our employees to make external phone<br />
calls to customers and suppliers anywhere in<br />
the world, but at a greatly reduced cost. Using<br />
Skype has saved us 40% on our telephone<br />
bills in just six months and we hope to continue<br />
with these savings.”<br />

check for availability and prices by connecting<br />
to the live database using their Nokia phones.<br />

out at which location the required items are<br />
available. This allows the salesman to give the<br />
customer a realistic delivery time based on<br />
current stock levels and then enter the order<br />
straight into the company system using the<br />
