Catering & Rentals
Catering & rentals contribute a significant
amount of revenue to the annual budget
through a smooth arrangement of a wide
variety of special occasions – professional
conferences, fundraisers, and other events
that occupy the auditorium and meeting
rooms throughout the year. Continual upgrades
to the facilities allow us more opportunities
for rentals. This year the major
improvement was upgrading the sound
system in the auditorium.
Children, Youth &
Camping
Summer camp was a success, both in quality
and overall enrollment. In 2008, Camp
Shalom saw an increase in total numbers.
Family events included the “All Chocolate
Seder,” entertaining and educating 30 families
about the joys and history of Passover.
Our “Dive N’ Dine” series was well received
bringing in 86 people. “Homework Hangout”,
the J-Care homework program, led by
a Masters Education Major, has developed
into one of the highest quality tutoring
programs in Tucson. Saturday Nights Out
provides opportunities for parents to enjoy
a night out on the town while their children
spend an evening at the “J”. We have
seen a steady increase in enrollment and
now offer programs for pre-K – 5th grades.
The J-Care program had higher enrollment
numbers than in past years for the first half
of 2008; however the second half saw decreased
numbers due to national economic
changes.
