Arts & Culture
The Arts & Culture Department collaborated
with community agencies such as Tucson-Pima
Arts Council, Tucson Symphony Orchestra,
the Arizona Center for Judaic Studies and the
Holocaust Education Resource Center of the
Coalition for Jewish Education to bring dynamic,
multi-faceted programming to the JCC.
The Fine Art Gallery hosted 14 exhibitions in a
variety of media, including two traveling shows
and a special installation commemorating the
10th anniversary of September 11, 2001.
Art historian and critic, Dr. Elaine A. King of
Carnegie Mellon University, curated the 3rd
Annual Sculpture Garden Exhibition and chose
20 new pieces for installation in the Garden. The
permanent collection continues to grow with
generous donations of art.
The Tucson International Jewish Film Festival
celebrated two decades of entertaining, educating
and inspiring audiences with the magic and power
of cinema. More than 2,000 people attended film
screenings at four venues in Pima County and,
for the third year in a row, the Fabulous Faygeleh
Series offered LGBT-themed films of Jewish
content that would not otherwise find an audience
in our community.
