The Aquitaine vineyard 

The Aquitaine Region is better known in China for its capital city, Bordeaux, a name which conjures 

up visions of vineyards and elegant châteaux. One the 10 main production areas in France, Aquitaine 

is famous for its legendary châteaux and is home to the largest Appellation d’Origine contrôlée (AOC) 

vineyard in France. 

The Agency for the Promotion of Aquitaine food and beverages 

The Agency for the Promotion of Aquitaine food and beverages is an operational tool serving the 

agribusiness strategy of Aquitaine Region. The Agency organizes the participation of Aquitaine companies 

in trade fairs & shows, business meetings between Aquitaine and foreign companies, «Aquitaine weeks» 

in supermarkets or specialized & delicatessen stores. In order to best serve our companies, we have 

developed a dedicated website : www.gastronomie.aquitaine.fr. 

The Aquitaine Region Representation Office in Chine 

In 2009, the Aquitaine Region opened a representation office in Wuhan, Hubei Province, with two 

representatives in charge of promoting the Aquitaine photonics industry and its wines and food products. 

Assignments include facilitating relations between Chinese and Aquitaine companies, and promoting 

Aquitaine food and wine through the organization of wine tasting classes and other events. 

The Second Bordeaux and Aquitaine Wine Festival in Wuhan 

This event, to be held in November 2011, will feature: 

~ the “Bordeaux and Aquitaine Wines Awards in Wuhan”, bringing together a jury of professionals and 

experienced wine lovers from all over China, who will taste 250 wines previously awarded medals in 

the Bordeaux Wine Awards (http://www.concours-de-bordeaux.com/) and choose their 25 

“Favorites”

~ a business-to-business forum

阿基坦大区食品推广协会 , 作为农业及农副产品业政策运行的工具 , 不仅推广阿基坦大区的 

葡萄酒及农副产品 , 而且帮助相关企业在法国国内和国际的商业发展 , 支持农业和农副食品 

业的推广活动 , 以达到最终目标 —— 促进阿基坦产品的消费和声誉。

阿基坦大区政府于 2009 年在武汉设立的代表处 , 委派葡萄酒专员和光电子专员。葡萄酒及食 

品专员的职责包括两方面 : 一方面 , 帮助中国企业和法国阿基坦大区的相关企业建立联系 ; 

另一方面 , 通过定期组织培训和品酒会 , 介绍和普及法国阿基坦大区的葡萄酒知识和文化。 

第二届武汉波尔多及阿基坦心仪葡萄酒节 

2011 年 11 月 , 第二届武汉波尔多及阿基坦心仪葡萄酒节又将如约而至。活动包括三大部 

分 :“ 心仪葡萄酒 ” 竞赛、“ 葡萄酒之旅 ” 沙龙、中法企业面对面交流。 

葡萄酒竞赛期间 , 由约来自中国各地的专业及业余的评委组成的评审团 , 将品尝约 250 瓶曾 

在法国本土举办的 “ 阿基坦葡萄酒 — 波尔多竞赛 ”(Concours de Bordeaux-Vins d’Aquitaine)

Albert de Montaubert combines tradition and modernity as no other Cognac does : Although 

the Brand was created 10 years ago, the Cognacs bring itself centuries of history, as they 

are produced by la Maison Tercinier. The most outstanding Cognac in the collection is the 

50 year-old «Gold», a blending of 6 vintages 1922-1949. It was given «Grand Gold» Medal

Since 400 years: Important family-owned and managed set of 3 estates: Château du Rocher 

Saint Emilion Grand Cru (16 hectares), Château de Monbadon and Château Lagrange 

Monbadon (50 hectares in AOC Côtes de Bordeaux Castillon). Representative red wines 

from their appellation, with frequent awards and medals. Vines planted with 70% merlots 

and 30% cabernets franc and sauvignon on a subsoil, ferruginous in many parts and a soil 

of clay and limestone which gives colourful wines with softness and flavour.

The Bonfils family, winegrowers from father to son since 1870 owns 14 estates in 

Languedoc-Roussillon and two in Bordeaux (Montagne Saint-Emilion and Premières Côtes 

de Bordeaux), representing a total of 1 160 hectares. They also manage the Maurel Vedeau 

trading house, dedicated to exports, and Alliance Terroirs, once named Bessière, one of 

the oldest trading houses in Languedoc-Roussillon. Jean-Michel Bonfils and his sons have 

drawn up Draconian specifications with the aim of optimising the quality of their grapes. 

They own a state of the art winery in the Domaine de la Motte, in Narbonne, with a capacity 

of 70 000 hl, including an exceptional thermovinification system wit. Over the years, Bonfils 

has developed close partnerships with the region’s most promising vine-growers in order to 

propose a rich range of Vins de Pays, varietal wines and AOCs of the South of France, from 

Languedoc-Roussillon to Provence via the Côtes du Rhône.

The village of Roquebrun and its wine growers welcome you to wine country. Our vines have 

optimum exposure to the sun in a village framed by mountains protecting from behind, and 

with the River Orb flowing through and softening the climate. You will find many noble types 

of wine in Roquebrun : Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre, Carignan , Roussanne, Viognier and 

white Grenache. Quality levels have been monitored for many years. Strict specifications 

mean that pruning methods, supports and the use of pesticides, as well as productivity 

itself are carefully controlled. Cave de Roquebrun : Established since 1968, Roquebrun’s 

wine cellars are situated in the Haut Languedoc National Park. The vineyards are spread 

over an area of 500ha of south facing, schistose hillsides.

Our aim: Produce a great Bordeaux wine, Cru Bourgeois from the Haut-Médoc, that 

combines modernity with classicism, elegance with refinement, while expressing the 

unique characteristics of each vintage. Managing the vine, the best of the fruit in “the best 

of all worlds”: Conservation agriculture allows us to assist the vines in their development by 

harnessing the natural qualities of plants so that each harvest expresses the best qualities 

of the fruit. “Blind” blending: We taste samples of all lots without any information as to 

grape variety, volume or provenance to achieve the best possible blend and create a wine 

that is an authentic representation of our terroir. Barrels to serve the wine: Our barrels are 

of French oak. The number and type of new one’s are not decided on until after blending. 

We use only the right amount of new wood that will highlight the full potential of the wine. 

It must not mask the fruit, it must enhance it in order to obtain balance, refinement and 

elegance.

A Vineyard in the heart of Provence In this part of Provence, where the people, traditions 

and crops combine following the ancient and harmonious balance of their own ingenuity, 

the Château Montaud vines are grown on long schist and sandstone terraces. In the heart 

of the Maures Mountains, Château Montaud is situated on the site of an old Roman « villa». 

The remains found during the restructuring of the vineyard : counterweight for a press, 

« dolia » for storing wine, bear witness to the presence of the vineyard already at that 

time. For three generations, the Ravel family has perpetuated this tradition. Culture With 

a view to preserving our environment, we have adopted integrated farming techniques: 

tilling, manual work on the vines and the ongoing monitoring of crops in order to keep the 

amount of treatments required to a minimum. The Winery Simple and effective processes 

combined with impeccable hygiene help to control all the stages involved in making our 

wines. Good quality and very varied grape varieties: Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Tibouren, 

Cabernet-Sauvignon, Rolle, Chardonnay.... The assemblage of these different grape 

varieties produces very aromatic and elegant wines. Control over production, from planting 

to bottling at the estate, guarantees the authenticity of our wines.

The symbol of Château Tour Saint Fort is the poppy and these wild flowers can be seen 

scattered throughout its wines. A great wine begins with a great grape; the priority here is 

to respect Nature and the Terroir. No chemical weed-killers are used and the soil is laboured 

in the traditional manner; Jean-Louis Laffort, the estate owner, uses integrated agricultural 

methods with great finesse and energy. Entirely destroyed during the second world war, this 

property of 14 hectares has been progressively rebuilt since the arrival of Jean-Louis Laffort 

in 1992. Great investments are made: a new vinification cellar with temperature-controlled 

stainless steel vats, a barrel-cellar, tasting and reception room. A policy of quality without 

compromise. The result are soon visible and recognized (Concours Général Agricole de 

Paris, Concours Régional d’Aquitaine, Concours des Grands Vins de France et de Macon, 

Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, Concours des Vinalies, Concours de Bourg Blaye; Guide 

Gault et Milllau, Hachette, Gilbert et Gaillard). In 2003 and 2010, the chateau’s classification 

of Cru Bourgeois officially awarded in 1932, was confirmed. The 14 hectares of Château 

Tour Saint Fort include 80% of Calcareous Saint Estèphe soil, typical of this appellation. 

These renowed soils contains fossiles which are more than million years old. The remaining 

20% comprise gravelly soils. The choice of grape varieties, Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot and

Our History : More than a century and still the will to write a new page of its history... The 

family company is born in 1904 in a small city east of France. The marketing of wines were 

intended at first regionally: selling wines to cafes, hotels and restaurants. Then in 1998 

Roland Duvernay and his son Romain, both oenologists decided to create a new activity in 

Châteauneuf-du-Pape - the heart of Rhône Valley Wine... Our Goals: respect soils, men and 

winemaking in order to satisfy more consumers... Our Philosophy: What we are looking for is 

elaborating fresh and smooth wines that give pleasure for the consumers, white respecting 

the environment. A continuous dialogue with the wine growers we are working with is very 

important for us. So we always keep an eye on maturity and winemaking. Indeed we all 

need to give value for the vineyards in order to keep it as long as possible and respect 

the soil as well as the customers. In brie, we want wines giving some pleasure! Our Work 

consist in a straight relationship and dialogue between wine-growers and our oenologist in 

order to realize the better grape’s selection ; sowe can elaborate the better winemaking. We 

ara always very scrupulous about the right maturity of the grapes. Indeed, all the vintages 

fare not alike... each year gives us some surprises! The priority is always to convert grapes 

into wine most possible sweetness. Then, we realize a classic wine’s conservation mainly 

in thanks, sometimes in oak in order to keep into wine most of the fruit. So we could 

appreciate our wines right after bottling and also 8 to 15 years in cellar.

Our cultures and our winery are situated on the east coast of Corsica. The Aghione 

winegrowers are at first specialised in the elaboration of innovating and high quality wines. 

Our large variety of grapes combined with our high technological equipment and our knowhow, 

allows us to offer a wide range of wines and to constantly innovate by creating new and 

attractive products. Our grape varieties vary from unusual Corsican vines recommended by 

the Appellation: Vermentinu, Nielucciu, Sciaccarellu, to traditional vines perfectly suited to 

our soil type such as Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet, Cinsault, Pinot noir, Chardonnay, Muscat

Since 1976, the Union de Vignerons de l’Île de Beauté have pioneered modern winemaking 

practices and the first to establish a retail presence for Corsican wine. The eastern coast of 

the island is our home, a fertile strip of bare earth, between sea and mountain, with terroirs 

as diversified as they are astonishing. We are currently the largest winery in Corsica in terms 

of volume and turnover. With more than 1650 hectares of vineyards, our 80 winegrowers 

produce wines which express their richness and diversity. Our range of wines extends from 

own label, selected vineyard, estate and signature wines. We take a rigorous approach to 

quality; our involvement extends across every level in the production process, this allows us 

to control and produce consistent quality wines at every price point. This relationship starts 

with grape growers to winemakers, packaging, retailer and finally to our end consumer. 

Their production allows us to produce tailored estate and signature wines such as Reserve 

du President (3 million bottles sold), the worldwide leading Corsican wine brand. Our 

knowledge of Corsican wines enables us to identify and develop an exclusive selection 

of cru and estate wines for the Chinese market. Our group has HACCP and Corsica’s IFS 

certifications. Our winery and bottling center in Aléria is the most modern in Corsica with 

100 000 hl of wine and 7 to 8 million bottles produced every year. Our products are exported 

to Canada, USA, China and Asia.

Founded in 1967, the French Wine Cooperative Union FONCALIEU is one of the largest 

exporters in the region Languedoc-Roussillon. The group has 7,600 hectares of vineyards in 

under vine and nearly 1,600 wine-growers. In 2009 Foncalieu produced almost 400 million 

liters. Within the annual production of 22 million bottles of wine, 80% is sold to foreign 

markets, like Germany, the United Kingdom, Northern Europe, the United States, Canada, 

Russia, China, Singapore and Japan. Foncalieu provides a wide range of products to meet 

the needs of different levels of consumption and target different consumer profiles. You can 

find both international varietals such as Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay, 

and original varietals such as Mouvèdre, Malbec, Marselan, Vermentino. We are also 

property owners in several prestigious AOC like Minervois, Corbières, Côtes du Rhône,

For 200 years, winemakers from father to son, we developed the family farm on appellations 

Bordeaux, Premières Côtes de Bordeaux, Cérons and Graves. Today, the vineyard extends 

over 140 hectares which includes the castle Mont Saint-Pey, Landonnet, Laroche, Arzac 

and Arave d’Arzac. The recent acquisition of Château Allegret full range of our range. The 

soil type of clay and limestone, 2000 hours of sunshine a year allow us to obtain grape juice 

color, aroma and concentration sufficient to obtain the appellation Bordeaux properties 

Château Mont Saint-Pey and Castle Landonnet. The red wines of Graves appellation Arzac 

Castle, located on the town of Saint-Selve, are produced on a gravelly soil (pea gravel 

mixed with fine sand). While whites are from the town of Illats, near Sauternes, where the

Cave la Comtadine is situated in Puymeras Village, on the north hillside of the mountain 

«Mont Ventoux» who culminates at 1912 meter altitude, also known as the «Geant of 

Provence» in South of France. Cave La Comtadine was founded in 1930 by 49 growers. 

Today, it groups 300 growers which cover 1200 hectares for a annual production of 8 

000 000 bottles which 85% in appelllation controlled of Rhone Valley and 15% in Vin de 

Pays. Le Gravillas is located in Sablet village, on hillside of the mountain «Les Dentelles de 

Montmirail» who culminates at 750 meter altitude. The Gravillas groups 150 growers wich 

cover 550 hectares for an annual production of 4 000 000 bottles wich 80% in appellation 

controlled of Rhone Valley and 20% in Vin de Pays. Cave la Comtadine and Le Gravillas 

produce wine in the respect of environment and in the respect of tradition.
