Company
Ackerman, specialist in fine
sparkling wines, has grown from generation
to generation. It has done so by
respecting the growers it works with,
and the region’s terroirs, through a relationship
based on trust and excellent
service. Its fresh and fruity premium
wines add a touch of French elegance
to all types of convivial moments. This
long term strategy concerns first and
foremost branded fine sparkling wines,
followed by Loire AOCs and white and
rosé French varietals.
Its original shareholders: local growers
united together within Loire Valley cooperative
wineries.
Along the lines of Jean-Baptiste Ackerman,
who brought the “Méthode Traditionnelle”
to Saumur in 1811 (the Loire
is the second sparkling region of production
in France after Champagne)…
Along the lines of Comtesse Fleury, who
didn’t hesitate to go to Canada to promote
De Neuville wines in between the
two world wars, at a time when the
forms of transport were far less convenient
than today’s means… Along the
lines of Maurice Rémy, who was one of
the first in the Loire Valley to work with
the supermarket trade and to launch
advertising campaigns about wine.
The modest couple from Brussels, who
gave birth to a certain Jean-Baptiste
on the 24th of June 1790, never imagined
that they would become the
parents of a talented provocateur.
As his grand parents were farmers, it
is not quite by chance that 20 years
later, around 1811 and after many
trips abroad, the boy settled down in
France in the rich terroir of Saumur. Suitable
geographic conditions explain
this choice: the terroir of Saumur, with
its chalky soil, dominated by tufa gives
wines with a natural fizz. The area also
benefits from other favourable characteristics,
such as waterways facilitating
the transportation of goods, well-established
links with Touraine allowing for
the easy supply of wines, and abundant
available manual labour.
The Loire is a source of diversity through
its terroirs, its wines and its men. This is
a diversity characterised by the members
of the Ackerman House, who work
autonomously at the service of a shared
identity and heritage.
Last but not least, conviviality reflecting
the Epicurean art of life in the Loire Valley.
Products
Its implication in the vineyards,
from pruning through to harvesting: a
technical consultant assists growers
from the start to put different techniques
into place according to the vineyards.
Its premium maturing techniques: the
wines are treated like first growths, with
for example, a two year ageing period
on lees to increase the finesse of the
bubbles of the Grande Réserve selection.
Its leading position: if the Loire Valley is
the number 1 producer of bubbles in
France after Champagne, Ackerman
is the leading operator, as 55% of its
sales are derived from “bubbles”.
Its wide and well-targeted distribution
network: Ackerman is the Loire’s leader
in fine bubbles, with notably a premium
positioning in the Loire AOC, Saumur
and Crémant sparkling segments.
Its innovative spirit: true to the pioneering
philosophy of Jean-Baptiste,
Ackerman keeps innovating when it
comes to sparkling wines, with brands
that are helping to diversify the market
and to recruit new consumers: X Noir…
These are wines boasting great typicity,
fine bubbles, and the prestige of a
great brand, which has managed over
the past two hundred years to seduce
the world. Highly accessible, Ackerman
offers sparkle, light and tasty moments.
An inherited pioneering spirit: innovating
to create value
Company
The Abécassis family has built
up one of the largest Single Estate
organisations within the Cognac
appellation. Being a Single Estate
means controlling from A to Z all
steps of the elaboration of Cognac:
vineyards, wine making, distillation,
ageing, blending and bottling.
1) Vineyards: The exceptional “terroirs”
owned by the Abécassis family
are characterized by gentle chalk
slopes in Petite Champagne and
one of the chalkiest hilltops in the Fins
Bois region. In addition, the decision
to harvest the grapes is taken by the
owners together with their master distillers
to choose perfect ripeness.
2) Wine making: The choice of yeast
is carefully carried out by the cellar
master and the temperature of the
wine cellar is fully controlled with
cooled wine making tanks, ensuring
that way an optimum fermentation.
3) Distillation: The permanent presence
of the master distiller on the estate
guarantees that cuts are done
at the very precise moment to draw
the maximum from distillation.
4) Barrels: The Abécassis family invests
yearly in about 150 new 400 litres barrels
in order to ensure natural oak
colouring and flavouring and, a very
strict choice of French Oak barrels is
made each year, coming from trees
of the Limousin or Tronçais forests.
5) Ageing: The Abécassis estates
offer the cellar master the opportunity
to choose between 17 different
ageing cellars, split between dry and
wet cellars which provide different
complexities adding to the richness
of blends when regular tasting
enables decisions concerning the
movements between different barrels
types and different cellars during
the ageing process.
Being a Single Estate Cognac producer
enables the Abécassis family’s
Cognacs to propose genuinely
flavoured spirits to the consumers
who seek the specificity of Cognac’s
aromas. Abécassis family’s Single
Estate Cognac consists of 250 ha of
vineyards, 4 winemaking facilities, 4
distilleries (9 pot stills), 17 ageing cellars
and 1 automated bottling chain.
Products
The brands operated are:
Since 1722, the vine has been to
the Robert family what the pen has
meant to the writer: the means of expressing
a unique form of art whose
primary need is to glorify nature.
Nearly three centuries after the first
deed of ownership was established
by Robert Le Jeune, the Robert family
still cultivates vines at Fossoy, on
the slopes of the Marne Valley.
At first under Andre’s impetus and
then under that of Alain Robert, the
family estate has become Champagne
A. Robert. Each generation
has passed on their respect for tradition,
without being stuck in the past
- so tradition fuses with modernity.
The savoir-faire learnt over the generations
has led to an insistence upon
quality above everything else.
Today, Arnaud Robert follows the family
tradition. A Robert champagnes
continue to captivate through their
elegance and subtlety.
“Keeps up traditions
going back to 1722”
White Classic - Brut: BLEND: 20% Chardonnay,
for its elegance and fine flavours,
20% Pinot Noir, for its body and
structure, and 60% Pinot Meunier for
its fruitiness.
Our non-vintage champagnes are
elaborated with a proportion of 20 to
40 % of reserve wine.
Rosé: BLEND : 10% Chardonnay, giving
elegance and finesse, 60% Pinot
Noir, adding roundness and structure,
and 30% Pinot Meunier for fruitiness.
Cuvée “Le Sablon”: In respect of the
typical grape varieties of the Champagne
wine growing region, this
Cuvée “Le Sablon” highlights the finesse
of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay,
while Pinot Meunier adds balance
and homogeneity.
BLEND: 40% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot
Noir, and 20% Pinot Meunier.
CRUS: A selection of 15 to 30 single
crus take part in the composition.
AGEING AND WINEMAKING: The
Cuvée “Le Sablon” is aged as long
as necessary to release high quality
champagne but for a minimum of 3
years,
Château de Blaceret-Roy
Company
My name is Thierry Canard. Like
11 generations of my family before
me, I craft Beaujolais wines and Crus
on my estate in the village of Saint
Etienne des Oullieres at Château de
Blaceret-Roy.
You may have heard of my uncle,
Gérard, who was standard bearer for
the whole Beaujolais region and its
wines for 37 years.
Over the years, the estate I steward
today for the coming generations
- including my son - has grown and
I have extended my wine sales activity
so, while we remain small-scale
and family-centred, we are able to
bring you a wide range of wines that
we can personalise to suit your range
and clientele.
On our estate, we have also formed
a fraternity “Les Canardins”; celebration
of Beaujolais is all part of our family’s
history.
Products
Beaujolais Blanc: The “White
Pearl” of our winemaking region;
great finesse with rich blossom aromas.
The power of a Chardonnay for
your apéritifs and fish dishes.
* wine also available in a Bag-in-Box
Beaujolais Rosé: Seductive youth
from this fresh, pale pink wine that
enhances the sun’s rays.
* wine also available in a Bag-in-Box
I Love You: This sparking rosé wine
is made using an age-old method
where, just after the harvest, the indigenous
yeasts are captured before
fermentation is finished, thus retaining
all the luscious flavours of fresh fruit
and keeping the alcohol content
down at around 8°. Bursting with freshly
harvested grape and apple aromas,
the flavours also include beautifully
tart strawberry and cider. Great
as an aperitif, with a sweet or at any
time as a refreshing celebration of
life.
Brut de Blaceret-Roy Blanc (Traditional
Method sparkling white wine): A
gentle pop for the third millennium,
grapes made bubbles. Excellent either
as an apéritif and or to round a
meal off.
Cuvée des Canardins: This well-built
wine has a balanced palate; it is matured
in oak barrels for the Confrérie
des Canardins du Beaujolais, which is
sponsored by master chef, Paul Bocuse.
The long finish is rounded and
spicy making it a great match for
game and cheese.
Fleurie Grille Midi Vieilles Vignes:
Beneath this wine’s shiny robe is a
delightful alliance of exquisite fruit
including peach and blackcurrant.
This really enjoyable, heady Cru has
a silky mouthfeel with dominant floral,
amber and sweet spice flavours.
Brouilly Vieilles Vignes: This renowned
and much-enjoyed Cru has a
forthright attack on the palate. It is
well-balanced with rounded blackberry
and blackcurrant aromas and
flavours. This very rich wine goes well
with dishes in sauce and matured
cheeses (cited in the Revue des Vins
de France).
Chiroubles pentes de Fontenelle: This
harmonious Cru is less well-known
than its neighbour, Fleurie. The robe
is sparkling red with aromas of violet
and iris. This is a supple charming and
truly seductive delicacy that is both
elegant and thoroughbred.
The vineyards of CHATEAU CAS-
TERA have been known and renowned
since the XIV century: it is one of
the oldest in the Medoc.
Other famous historical names bear
witness for CASTERA: Thomas Montaigne,
the brother of the philosopher,
or Messire La Boetie, who was
one of the two most prestigious
owners of the property.
Thanks to meticulous care very old
French vines have been preserved
and one parcel still in production today
dates from the beginning of the
century.
Since 1986, the new owners have
continued the restoration of the Chateau,
the modernisation of the cellars
and the renovation of the vineyard.
Products
Overlooking Saint Germain d’Esteuil
in the heart of the Medoc, the
property covers 185 hectares, of
which 63 hectares under vines.
Emphasis is placed on quality, to
place the wine amongst the best
Crus bourgeois.
This effort has enabled CHATEAU
CASTERA to win several medals for
recent vintages.
The name of CASTERA, synonymous
of quality is known worldwide and is
standard bearer for the crus bourgeois
in many countries.
Château CASTERA belongs to Médoc
appellation which, by traditional
vinification, favours the expression of
the soil.
Its bright red colour, the fine delicate
nose and the smooth, soft tannins
make it a wine full of charm and elegance.
Company
Located in the heart of the
Chateauneuf du Pape AOC, in the
Provencal village of Courthézon,
between the historic towns of Avignon
and Orange, Château de la
Font du Loup is a family estate, which
has existed since Napoleonic times.
The land was acquired by Jean Roch
Mélia, who created the estate by
bringing together the vines around it
to create the vineyard we see today.
Since 1977, his grandson, Charles
Mélia, with his wife Françoise, and
today their daughter Anne-Charlotte
and their son-in-law Laurent work together
to elevate the estate to the
upper echelons of Chateauneuf du
Pape wines.
The vineyard extends to 20 hectares
in a single parcel of land, from which
the view is stunning over the Vaucluse
hills, Mont Ventoux and the Dentelles
de Montmirail.
The vines average 45 years old, with
the oldest ranging from 80 to 100
years.
Products
The ground is natural and consists
of soil with two strong characteristics:
Firstly pebbles, polished and worn by
time,
Secondly sand, rich with alluvial sediments.
The sea covered this land during the
Tertiary period in history, explaining
the composition of the soil. Sedimentary
deposits left a sub layer of sand,
clay and limestone. Then during the
Quaternary era – the period of great
glaciers – blocks of rocks torn from
the Alps were carried away by torrents
when the glaciers melted and
were deposited on the sandy sub
layer. Through times, those blocks turned
into glorious pebbles – the ideal
vehicle to achieve perfect grape
maturity with their ability to absorb
the daytime heat and disperse it during
the cool nights.
Five centuries of History:
Mangot was first mentioned
back in 1546, referring both to a
place and the name of a family.
Over the next five centuries, the estate
passed between successive
owners from different families, professions
and social background: from
the Viscount of Castillon to families
of Cooper. Throughout the pages of
this history, vine growing has always
been the mainstay of Mangot.
Three generations:
1952: Ambitious newlyweds Simone
and Jean Petit bought their first five
hectares of vine. After being divided
for centuries, the last acquisitions in
1984 restored Mangot to the full 35
hectares it possessed in the 18th century.
1989: Their daughter Anne Marie
and her husband added their contribution.
Although not from a wine
background, Jean Guy Todeschini
threw all his character into restructuring
the vineyard, renovating the
buildings and making constant improvements
to the quality of each of
the wines.
2008: After studying and working in
France and abroad, Karl and Yann
bring their enthusiasm, precision and
modernity to Mangot.
On the strength of its past, Mangot
looks to a bright future. Although
each of the vineyards expresses its
own specific character, the philosophy
behind production and winemaking
remains identical.
One philosophy:
Act simply and naturally and apply
sound common sense:
To employ environmentally-friendly
vine growing techniques to restore
natural balance to each plot and
bring out the best in them.
To know, observe and understand
the soil and plants to express all their
values.
To experiment with organic farming.
To produce wine that reveals the personality
of the terroirs and the people
who create them.
Products
Two vineyards:
long been made here, using recipes
lovingly handed from generation to
generation.
And at Château de Salles, a vineyard
of 30 hectares, the Hebert family
looks forward to introducing to you
finest produce of the vine.
Ugni blanc and Baco are the main
grape varieties used in our Armagnacs.
The wine is distilled in the
depths of winter in a special Armagnac
still that is kept constantly heated.
The resulting brandy is poured
into 400 litre oak barrels and quietly
left to age.
Once it has aged the Armagnac is
either blended with Armagnacs from
other years or left untouched in its
barrels for a minimum of ten years,
to create one of our exceptional
vintages. All our Armagnacs are produced
from our grapes. They are distilled,
aged and bottled at Château
the label to guarantee the age of
Company
In 1979, a few passionate committed
winegrowers, helped by André
Dubosc, took up the challenge
of endowing their wines with the
hallmark of their noble heritage. Together,
these winegrowers founded
the Producteurs Plaimont.
Production stretches over 4500 ha of
vineyards split.
Our vineyards, situated half way
between the Atlantic and the Pyrenees,
lie on either side of the Adour
Valley, in the heart of a country
where, here and there, the rounded
hills give way to steep slopes awash
in sunlight. The south and east-facing
slopes are planted with red grape
varieties. The wines from the gravelly
soils are well-rounded and light; those
from clayey plots are likely to be able
to age elegantly.
The steeper western slopes with clay
and limestone soils are home to the
white varieties.
The sustainable viticulture of Plaimont
seeks to foster the positive impact of
winegrowing practices on the environment.
Along with their knowhow
acquired from earlier generations,
they have been front runners
in several aspects of viticulture and
winemaking: Micro-Bullage (Micro-
Oxygenation), Pigeage (Pump Over)
and Pulsair (Pulverizer) are some of
the techniques and equipment widely
used at Plaimont
Products
Red varieties: Tannat, Pinenc,
Cabernet Sauvignon
White varieties: Petit Courbu, Arrufiac,
The two manseng
Vineyards:
Madiran (690ha)
Pacherenc du Vic Bilh (125ha)
Saint Mont (1,050ha)
Vin de pays (2,890ha)
Maturing and ageing:
In barrels: Many of our wines have
the required potential to benefit from
maturing in oak. There are 5,000 barrels
in the Producteurs Plaimont cellars,
of which a third are new each
year.
On the lees: This method is used with
white wines and also with certain of
the reds allied to micro bubbling. This
process confers greater length and
lush roundness in the mouth at the
same time as conserving the wine’s
aromas.
In the bottle: there are several million
bottles laid down in our air-conditioned
cellars.
Pinot Gris, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet
Sauvignon and Gamay.
Company
The estate is named after its
three owners: Christophe and Martine
Rethore, and Jean Michel Davy:
a society vineyard.
We decided to join our terroirs and
our expertise in order to benefit the
quality of our wines.
The vineyard, located south of the
Loire, between Muscadet and Anjou,
now consists of 40 ha of vines planted
on very varied rocky slopes made up
of quartz and schist.
Respecting the environment, we use
an integrated pest management
approach, involving ploughing of
the soil, strips of grass, high leaf area,
Cordon pruning and removal of excess
leaves.
Our wines offer an authentic expression
of the characteristics typical of
the Loire.
Products
For these reasons, we have chosen
to plant several grape varieties:
Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon,
Our special characteristic in the Loire
Valley is to produce a wide range of
vins de pays which are divided into
two distinct categories.
The first is our LOIRE COLLECTION and
offers pleasant, easy to drink wines;
monovarietal, they are made using
modern techniques with temperature
control, so as to extract all the
flavours of the grape variety. The collection
consists of six wines:
Sauvignon Blanc,
Chardonnay,
Pinot Noir,
Gamay Rouge,
Cabernet Franc,
Pinot Gris
The second is called PAVILLON and
is produced in red and white. These
wines are the result of the blending
of several grape varieties and terroirs.
Both the reds and the whites are
powerful, generous, and minerally,
with notes of ripe fruit.
The vineyard sells about 200,000
bottles.
We have chosen modern packaging
for all of the wines, which is popular
with consumers.
Company
Maison VEUVE AMBAL was
founded in 1898 in the heart of Burgundian
terroirs.
When she became the widow
(veuve) of a Parisian banker, Marie
Ambal returned to Rully, the village
of her birth, to join her brother who at
that time was a Burgundy vine owner
and wine broker. This was the time of
the beginnings of the use of the “méthode
champenoise” sparkling wine
making method. Marie took an active
interest in it and decided to set
up her own wine house in 1898.Very
quickly the quality of her wines gained
fame, winning medals at wine
competitions. The level of excellence
that was inspired by Marie Ambal
has never fallen. It is passed down
through the generations.
When she died, her grandson,
Charles Roux Ambal, followed in her
footsteps before passing his knowhow
on in turn to his grandson, Eric
Piffaut, who is today’s president of
this sparkling family-run Burgundian
house of wine. After over a century
in its original cellars in Rully, Maison
VEUVE AMBAL moved to Montagnyles-Beaune
in 2005. The new building
combines futuristic architecture and
traditional Burgundian-inspired materials,
expressing the combination
of tradition and modernity that is the
signature of today’s leader in Crémant
de Bourgogne.
Products
Veuve Ambal is the largest producer
of Crémant de Bourgogne and Traditional
Method sparkling wines in
