PROCEDURE:<br />
(1) Pilot ordering: Vessels should send request for Deep Sea Pilotage at least 48h<br />
in advance, <strong>to</strong> the Dunkerque or Cherbourg Offi ce stating:<br />
(a) Vessel’s name, type and characteristics<br />
(b) Draught<br />
(c) Destination<br />
(d) Pilot boarding position<br />
(e) ETA at the Pilot boarding position<br />
(2) Notice of ETA: Vessels should confi rm ETA as follows:<br />
(a) 24h before arrival <strong>to</strong> Deep Sea Pilots Cherbourg<br />
(b) 4h before arrival <strong>to</strong> Jobourg Traffi c on VHF Ch 13<br />
(c) 2h before arrival <strong>to</strong> Vigie du Homet on VHF Ch 12<br />
(3) Vessels should maintain a continuous watch on VHF Ch 16 and Ch 12 after the last<br />
contact.<br />
(4) All amendments <strong>to</strong> ETA of more than 2h should be reported at least 6h before<br />
arrival.<br />
(5) Pilot boards in the following positions:<br />
(a) 49°43′·60N 1°42′·50W (in the vicinity of Lt buoy CH1)<br />
(b) 49°47′·50N 1°38′·80W (vessels carrying dangerous cargo)<br />

PROCEDURE:<br />
(1) Pilotage is compulsory for:<br />
(a) Vessels and <strong>to</strong>ws over 50m LOA<br />
(b) Vessels carrying dangerous cargo<br />
(2) Pilot ordering: Vessels should send requests for Pilot through the agent or<br />
directly <strong>to</strong> the Pilots 12h in advance (or on departure from the previous port) stating:<br />
(a) Vessel’s name, type and characteristics<br />
(b) ETA<br />
(c) Draught<br />
(d) Number of tugs required<br />
(3) Vessels should contact Vigie du Homet (Homet Coastguard) on VHF Ch 16 or 12,<br />
2h before arrival and confi rm tug assistance if required; vessels must also maintain a<br />
continuous watch on these VHF Channels and confi rm ETA 1h before arrival.<br />
(4) Departing vessels should request Pilot 2h in advance (before 1800 LT for departure<br />
between 2000 LT and 0800 LT the following day).<br />
(5) Pilot boards in the following positions:<br />
(a) 49°43′·60N 1°42′·50W (in the vicinity of Lt buoy CH1)<br />
(b) 49°46′·00N 1°45′·00W (Coal terminal)<br />
(c) In bad weather, vessels will be guided by VHF until Pilot boards in the shelter of<br />
the Grande Digue<br />
NOTE:<br />
On request, the Pilot can board in advance from a neighbouring French or foreign<br />
