PITTSBURGH
poy W. Fiedler jr.. local indoor-outdoor exhibitor,
who took over the Liberty at
Vermillion, Ohio, has acquired a second
Ohio unit. He signed a long-term lease for
the Cinema, Lorain, a 644-seat house, from
Vic Lin Enterprises. Fiedler heads the
Cinema Theatre Co., which now is operating
one of Lorain's four theatres.
Theatre Candy Co. was host to an all-day
party December 22. Mrs. Raymond Shows
furnished a fruitcake and cookies were furnished
by Mrs. John Kerzan, Indiana, Pa.,
outdoor exhibitor.
Joseph Lincoln "Joel" Navari, oldest son
of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Navari, ownersoperators
of the Eastwood Theatre, enlisted
in the Army and will report for officers

Movies were dropped when there wasn't
enough suitable product available, and the
circuit also may turn the local Fulton into
a stage show house for the same reason.
Joan Biordi, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
H. E. Biordi, Ellwood City, has received a
postdoctoral fellowship for the North
Atlantic Treaty Organization. She will begin
fellowship work at Cambridge University
in England after she completes work

slot-car recreation, the Monroe Model Car
Speedway at the Monroe Bowl.
Theatre Candy Co.'s office-warehouse was
broken into. Money and candy were stolen
and vending machines were damaged.
Knute Boyle, manager, said no theatre or
any other account was without sufficient
candy until after the New Year.
Lawrence Cablevision, Inc., is starting
work on installation of 105 miles of CATV
cable at New Castle. Cost of lines, tower
and blockhouse in Shenango, plus offices
will cost $500,000, according to Les Rau,
vice-president, who also is general manager
of Neptune Broadcasting Co., Steubenville,
Ohio.
Cheswick Fire Co. held its annual Christmas
party for children at the Cheswick
Theatre. There was a screen program and
Santa Claus distributed treats and prizes

lights in the rear of the Perm Theatre . . .

his first movie featured in the State Theatre,
Aliquippa. Produced by Altonian's

18. The Salvation Army collected
the food and distributed it to needy families

WAMO Bldg., December 17.
The Lincoln council granted a 15-year
CATV franchise to Steel Valley Cablevision,
Inc., for which the borough will receive
3 per cent of the company's earnings
Theatre, Beaver Falls, in addition
to presenting a holiday musical stage
show "Holiday With Music," also offered
a recording of the Philadelphia Orchestra,
exploiting the newly expanded sound system,
as well as providing a special program.

1,200-Seater Opens
At Norihfield, N. J.
NORTHFIELD, N.J. — The 1,200-seat
Tilton Theatre in the Tilton Shopping
Center here in Atlantic County opened
December 23. The opening featured
"Thunderball" as a drawing attraction for
the benefit of the Northfield All-Sports
Ass'n.
Mayor Otto Bruyne and councilman
Nicholas Kuchova purchased the first two
tickets for the showing. Kuchova was
chairman of ticket sales for the benefit.
A preview of the new theatre, billed
as the first all-new house in the area in
25 years, was given for press and other
officials. A sample film, the first take of
"Exodus," was shown to demonstrate the
vastness of the 60x30-foot screen, one of
the largest in the area. Bands and other
groups also were on hand for the ceremonies.
Local artists' displays were shown
in the lobby.
The fully air-conditioned theatre was
designed by Thalheimer & Weltz of Philadelphia.
Free parking is provided in the
giant shopping center.

Harrisburg's CATV got into operation
with 12,000 subscribers, company representatives
stating this is the largest ever
enrolled at its inception and that it operates
as the third or fourth largest of its

Piper, owner-manager, held a successful

a free Christmas party for underprivileged
children at the Liberty Theatre,
staging "The Steadfast Tin Soldier." The
sponsors were WKPA, Salvation Army,
area merchants and industries . . . Waynesburg
Elks sponsored a canned food show
at the Opera House December 18. The
canned goods were packed into baskets and
distributed to deserving families in the
