Roxy in Winlock, Wash.
Reopened by Lions Club
WINLOCK. WASH. After a whirlwind
mx weeks' campaign to raise funds, the
Lions Club has reopened the idle Roxy
Theatre. Operation is entirely by Lions.
With about 75 per cent of the club's 35
members volunteering their services and
Earl Biddle. former operator of the theatre,
serving as adviser to the club and
instructing several members in projector
techniques.
The theatre facilities were offered to the
Lions at a greatly reduced rental by owners
of the property, the heirs of the late
mayor. V. O. Harkins.
The theatre is on a two-nights a week
basis, movies scheduled on Friday and
Saturday.
Reopening of the Roxy, closed since last
spring, serves the dual purpose of providing
a needed leisure time facility for the
town's youth and furnishing means to raise
funds for the Lions' community service projects.
