There will also be a lucky door prize for the kids! We have also arranged a special visit from Santa, who will deliver a gift to every child who attends. In order to help Santa and to make sure that every child receives a gift, the tickets will be on sale until Friday, December 5. Green up your pool IN August PoolWerx conducted the first national backyard pool water survey to determine the health of Australian pools at the end of the winter “off peak” period. The results of the test were alarming with only 14 percent of all pools tested showing healthy chlorine and pH Levels. The longer your pool water is left untreated, the more likely you are to accumulate nasty bacteria and microorganisms that can make your family sick. If you think your pool could be at risk, check by taking a sample of your pool water to PoolWerx Redcliffe for a free water health test. By “greening up” your pool for summer you can save up to 70 per cent on pool costs thanks to a variety of energy saving options: Pumps and filters. Older pumps may be using huge amounts of power but not doing their job in the pool properly because they are simply past their use-by date. If your pump needs replacing, make sure your next pump is environmentally friendly, such as the Viron P 320. Older-style pool pumps always run at maximum capacity but environmentally friendly pumps can vary their speed depending on the task. Using a pool blanket can cut out up to 97 percent of water evaporation and reduce chemical usage. In addition, regular pool blanket use can reduce the need to run your filter, meaning lower electricity costs. Pool blankets even keep pool water warmer for a more comfortable swim. Check for leaks. If you fill your pool more than 1.5 inches a week, you’ve got a leak. Check all equipment first though as many pool leaks originate from seals on older pumps and filters. Use rainwater. If you have a rainwater tank, top up your pool with this water if you can. Just remember to be vigilant with your water testing to make sure no bacterial nasties are transferred from your tank to the pool.
