Ombudsmen investigate complaints<br />

and rights of long-term care<br />

consumers, work <strong>to</strong> resolve individual<br />

concerns, identify problems and<br />

advocate for changes <strong>to</strong> address<br />

them at no charge <strong>to</strong> the consumer.<br />

CHORE & MINOR<br />

MAINTENANCE PROGRAMS<br />

Helps seniors maintain their homes<br />

by making referrals for maintenance<br />

chores such as snow shoveling/removal,<br />

yard work and housekeeping.<br />

Some of these programs use a<br />

sliding-fee arrangement in determining<br />

the cost for services while others<br />

are market rate. Those who meet income<br />

guidelines may be eligible for<br />

housekeeping services through their<br />

human service offices.<br />

guarantees additional monthly income<br />

serving your county that can<br />

provide help <strong>to</strong> qualified households<br />

for assistance with heating<br />

bills. Households with the lowest<br />

monthly incomes and highest energy<br />

costs receive priority. You do<br />

not need <strong>to</strong> be behind in heating<br />

bills <strong>to</strong> qualify. EAP may make referrals<br />

<strong>to</strong> resources <strong>to</strong> help with<br />

furnace repairs or replacement<br />

and other weatherization services<br />

if necessary.<br />
