The site has many interesting elevated remains. 13th century restored refectory and chapterhouse. Magnificent tombstone of the priest Guillaume dating from 1280. Medieval church with a unique octagonal bell tower. An old 12th century sundial adorns part of the exterior. The bell tower, the choir and apse of the church are listed as historic monuments. 14th-15th century basilica. High altar with a sculptured altarpiece by Armand Fréret (1758-1816). The Saint Sacrament chapel houses a magnificent sculpture of a Madonna and child by Fréret. 14th century baptismal fonts at the back of the church listed as a historic monument. 19th century Romanesque church. The stained glass windows supplied by the Didron workshop and the organs which have been listed since 1990 as a historic monument are of particular interest. Along with the Mont-Saint-Michel, Coutances Cathedral is a masterpiece of Gothic style in Normandy. The high galleries of the nave and the choir, in the lantern tower and framework are shown during the visit. Old parish church, the edifice was built in the 11th and 12th centuries. Example of late gothic style. Rebuilt in the 15th-16th centuries. A Flamboyant Gothic style and Renaissance style church. Superb lantern tower. Built in several stages between the 15th and 17th centuries, the primitive chapel became a retreat in 1620 and remained so until 1830. Classified 'Historical Monument" in 1995 and restored in the 2000s. Interpretation tables help you understand the history, architecture, legend of Saint-Gerborld and hermitry. 12th century Benedictine abbey established on the banks of the Sienna. Listed as a historic monument. One of the most complete monastic medieval site of Lower- Normandy. Abbey founded during the 12th century. Cistercian spirit Romanesque site dominated by an Anglo-Norman tower announcing Gothic architecture. Gatehouse with its bakery and courtrooms. Ogival crossing vaults of the church. Medieval architecture prowess. First French site to be recognised by Unesco as having a world heritage status. Sat on a rocky mount, the abbey overlooks the village and ramparts. Great panoramic viewpoint. Edifice listed as a historic monument. Romanesque abbey built during the 11th century. One of the first edifices to have a complete set of ribbed vaults. Built of white granite from the area in 1763. Coloured stone statue of the Madonna and child and four large wooden statues. Vault and chancel decorated in 1879 by Guillaume Fouace. It was built in 1082 by Count Robert of Mortain, William the Conqueror's half-brother. The Romanesque door remains from this period. Modified in the 13th century in remarkable Anglo-Norman Gothic style. Listed as a historic monument. 11th century Notre-Dame Church has a fortified belltower and stands on the edge of the harbour. The unusual hexagonal Baptistery dates from the 4th century and is the only known example North of the Loire river. It was built in the 12th century and finished in the 13th century, and was dedicated to Saint-Vigor. Watchtower, Art Nouveau stained-glass windows, choir and nave vaults. Greatly damaged by bombings in June 1944, the renovated church still retains marks of war. The 15th/16th century windows were saved from disaster. This Romanesque building is the oldest in Saint-Lô and was consecrated in 1204. Founded during the 11th century by the Viscount of Saint-Sauveur. The abbey was built from 1067 by Benedictines. It was partly destroyed during the 100-year war. Notre-Dame de Savigny church is mainly 12th century. Unique Romanesque nave. 14th century mural paintings. Bas-relief: 12th century stone Christ in glory. Pilgrimage site at the heart of the Vire Valley since the 12th century. This neo-gothic building of local red stone houses two statues discovered between the 14th and 16th centuries. Permanent exhibition on pilgrimages. Dating back to the end of the 15th century beginning of the 16th century, this church authentically retraces the copper city's foundation. 15th century nave. Magnificent, flamboyant door from the 16th century. Beautiful stained glass windows. Chapel where St Theresa was baptized on 4th January 1873. Built between 15th and 17th centuries. Magnificent northern porch. Gothic nave and transept, Renaissance apsis. Norman style lantern tower. Great bell tower crowned in 1631 by the architect Maurice Gabriel. Organ concerts in the summer. 26

This unique edifice is still practically the same as it was when it was built. Fine example of Norman Romanesque art. The edifice dates from the 11th-12th centuries. The church houses a 14th century Madonna, a 15th century recumbent statue and a collection of tombstones. Neo-gothic style edifice (19th century). This sanctuary of the Catholic Church is a worldwide centre of prayer and attracts pilgrims from across the world. 11th century Benedictine Abbey with Romanesque transept, a 3-floor gothic chancel, ambulatory with chapels and altarpiece. Built on ancient sarcophagus at the beginning of the 12th century. Sandstone and granite building on a rocky headland. 12th and 14th frescoes, restored in 2006. Closeby, in a vast meadow, lies the little Saint-Céneri chapel (15th century) on the very site of Saint- Hermit's oratory. Neo-gothic style Basilica. Beautifully lit and fascinating interior. Magnificent 13th century cathedral. Masterpiece of Norman Gothic art, the chancel is a remarkable piece of art. Neo-gothic monastery surrounded by forests and lakes. The church is famous for its unique 17th century Jacquemarts Tower, once occupied by Houzou, Bénard and Paquet Sivière. Gothic Collegiate church housing an exceptional 15th century statue of Saint-Michel. Flamboyant Gothic styled church, "the most beautiful chapel in the kingdom" according to Henry IV. Worth admiring are the Western facade's three gates, the tiara-shaped churchtower, and the 19 chapels. 52m spire. Built in the 12th and 16th centuries. Flamboyant Gothic and Renaissance style. This chapel, located on a hill, built in the 19th century in honour of Laurent O'Toole, offers a remarkable view on the estuary, the towns of Eu, Le Tréport and Mers-lès-Bains. Built in 1624. Louis XIII façade. In the choir: two marble mausoleums of the Duke of Guise and Catherine of Clèves. Beautiful example of the development of gothic art from the primitive to the flamboyant. 12th century crypt, refurbished in 1828. Medieval recumbent statues dating back to the 12th and 15th centuries. The abbey church bears witness to the prestigiousness of Fécamp. Romanesque parts dating from 1106, gothic nave and lantern tower from the 12th and 13th centuries, French Renaissance gates, graves of the Dukes of Normandy. 12th century Cistercian abbey. Notre-Dame of Jumièges was one of the highest churches of its time in Normandy. Its 46 meter high towers still overlook the meandering River Seine. Marvellous remains of the abbey. Built between 1575 and 1630, the cathedral combines gothic with Renaissance architecture. Built from 1951 according to the plans of the architect Auguste Perret. Late 16th century church. Built between the 14th and 16th centuries. A great example of gothic architecture with imposing proportions.
