Cairns
Cairns welcomes over two million visitors each year who enjoy the spectacular natural
attractions and activities on offer, including scuba diving and snorkelling on the Great
Barrier Reef, and exploring ancient rainforests, waterfalls and national parks.
The City
Cairns is one of Australia’s most popular
tourist destinations. Cairns’ diverse population
of around 170,000 enjoys a cosmopolitan
lifestyle with many cafés, restaurants, markets
and nightclubs.
The close proximity of Cairns to natural
attractions like the Great Barrier Reef and
the Daintree Rainforest give rise to a thriving
business in international visitors. Students
looking for part-time work during their studies
in Cairns will find a variety of part-time jobs
available in tourism, hospitality, retail sales
and business administration, with many
employers valuing part-time workers with
foreign language skills.
