Thank you <strong>for</strong> registering <strong>for</strong> an American Red Cross <strong>CPR</strong>/<strong>AED</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Professional</strong> <strong>Rescuers</strong> <strong>and</strong><br />
<strong>Health</strong> Care Providers instructor course. You will join the ranks of over 200,000 other instructors<br />
who help others prevent, prepare <strong>for</strong> <strong>and</strong> respond to emergencies. Here is what you need to<br />
know about your course:<br />
The instructor course is offered in a blended learning <strong>for</strong>mat with both an online session <strong>and</strong> a<br />
classroom component.<br />
Course Materials<br />
You have a choice of downloading your course materials free of charge or purchasing them in a<br />
durable print <strong>for</strong>mat at an af<strong>for</strong>dable price – simply go to<br />
www.Instructorscorner.org/<strong>CPR</strong>PROc<strong>and</strong>idates <strong>and</strong> select to view or purchase the materials. You will<br />

Prerequisites to Enter the Classroom Component<br />
To participate in the <strong>CPR</strong>/<strong>AED</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Professional</strong> <strong>Rescuers</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Health</strong> Care Providers instructor course,<br />
you must:<br />
Be at least 17 years of age on the last day of the instructor course.<br />
Possess current American Red Cross <strong>CPR</strong>/<strong>AED</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Professional</strong> <strong>Rescuers</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Health</strong> Care<br />
Providers certification(s) or the equivalent.<br />
Have successfully completed the online Orientation to the <strong>CPR</strong>/<strong>AED</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Professional</strong> <strong>Rescuers</strong><br />
<strong>and</strong> <strong>Health</strong> Care Providers Instructor Course which is available on<br />
www.Instructorscorner.org/<strong>CPR</strong>PROc<strong>and</strong>idates under the “Instructor C<strong>and</strong>idates” section.<br />
Have successfully completed the online Orientation to the American Red Cross. Be sure to review<br />
the 4 modules including History, Foundations, Key Services <strong>and</strong> Our Commitments<br />
Have successfully completed the online <strong>CPR</strong>/<strong>AED</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Professional</strong> <strong>Rescuers</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Health</strong> Care<br />
Providers Instructor Precourse Test (score 80 percent or better). This test is offered online. To<br />
access the test:<br />
o Go to the American Red Cross Learning Center -<br />
https://classes.redcross.org/Saba/Web/Main<br />
o Log in (if you do not remember your username <strong>and</strong>/or password – attempt to use the selfservice<br />
links or contact the local chapter.)<br />
o Click the “My Learning Tab”<br />
o Select “My Enrollments” from the left menu.
o Click the “ + ” next to the course titled “<strong>CPR</strong>/<strong>AED</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Professional</strong> <strong>Rescuers</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Health</strong><br />
Care Providers Instructor r2011”<br />
o Another line will appear <strong>and</strong> to the right side click the “Launch” link<br />
o NOTE: You have unlimited attempts at the test content.<br />
Have obtained all materials needed <strong>for</strong> both the instructor <strong>and</strong> participants be<strong>for</strong>e entering the first<br />
session of the instructor course. See Course Materials section above <strong>for</strong> details on obtaining<br />
materials.<br />
Note: Age <strong>and</strong> <strong>CPR</strong>/<strong>AED</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Professional</strong> <strong>Rescuers</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Health</strong> Care Providers certifications will be<br />
verified during your first classroom session.<br />
Certification Requirement<br />
To be certified as an instructor, you must:<br />
Successfully complete the prerequisite requirement.<br />
Attend <strong>and</strong> actively participate in all course sessions.<br />
Successfully complete class activities including two practice-teaching assignments.<br />
Score at least 80 percent (20 correct answers out of 25 questions) on the instructor written exam.<br />
Complete the online Course Record Administration training in the American Red Cross Learning<br />
Center (recommended).<br />
