Thank you for registering for an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and
Health Care Providers instructor course. You will join the ranks of over 200,000 other instructors
who help others prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Here is what you need to
know about your course:
The instructor course is offered in a blended learning format with both an online session and a
classroom component.
Course Materials
You have a choice of downloading your course materials free of charge or purchasing them in a
durable print format at an affordable price – simply go to
www.Instructorscorner.org/CPRPROcandidates and select to view or purchase the materials. You will
need copies of the following:

Prerequisites to Enter the Classroom Component
To participate in the CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers instructor course,
you must:
Be at least 17 years of age on the last day of the instructor course.
Possess current American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care
Providers certification(s) or the equivalent.
Have successfully completed the online Orientation to the CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers
and Health Care Providers Instructor Course which is available on
www.Instructorscorner.org/CPRPROcandidates under the “Instructor Candidates” section.
Have successfully completed the online Orientation to the American Red Cross. Be sure to review
the 4 modules including History, Foundations, Key Services and Our Commitments
Have successfully completed the online CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care
Providers Instructor Precourse Test (score 80 percent or better). This test is offered online. To
access the test:
o Go to the American Red Cross Learning Center -
https://classes.redcross.org/Saba/Web/Main
o Log in (if you do not remember your username and/or password – attempt to use the selfservice
links or contact the local chapter.)
o Click the “My Learning Tab”
o Select “My Enrollments” from the left menu.

o Click the “ + ” next to the course titled “CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health
Care Providers Instructor r2011”
o Another line will appear and to the right side click the “Launch” link
o NOTE: You have unlimited attempts at the test content.
Have obtained all materials needed for both the instructor and participants before entering the first
session of the instructor course. See Course Materials section above for details on obtaining
materials.
Note: Age and CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers certifications will be
verified during your first classroom session.
Certification Requirement
To be certified as an instructor, you must:
Successfully complete the prerequisite requirement.
Attend and actively participate in all course sessions.
Successfully complete class activities including two practice-teaching assignments.
Score at least 80 percent (20 correct answers out of 25 questions) on the instructor written exam.
Complete the online Course Record Administration training in the American Red Cross Learning
Center (recommended).
