El Paso County 4-H Newsletter Page 8 County Council News Photo Slide Show Clubs start taking pictures now for the photo slide show that will be presented at the Awards Nights. The County Council will compile the photos into a digital year book so start taking picture to assure your club is included. Pictures can be taken either digitally or with a regular camera and handed in by September 13 th to the Extension Office or their County Council Rep to hand in at the next County Council Meeting in August. Shooting Sports News Shooting Sports at the Fair On Wednesday, July 25 the Shooting Sports Advisory Committee will be hosting an air rifle booth and an archery booth at the Fair! Come out and learn how to safely shoot an air rifle! Bring your friends so they can give shooting sports a try too! On Thursday, July 26 at 6:30pm, the Shooting Sports Awards Ceremony will commence. Be sure to attend so that you can find out how you did at the County Competition! For those of you who qualify to compete at the State Fair, be on the lookout for emails from the Shooting Sports Advisory Committee. You will need to pay your registration fee for State Fair quickly or else your spot will be passed on to an alternate. Shooting Sports E‐Records (POLICY CHANGE!) Be sure you bring your completed Shooting Sports E‐Record with your tabletop display for fair. Also, ALL shooting sports record books (whether they are used at fair with a tabletop exhibit or not) should be turned into your project leader to be graded or re‐graded in August/September, and then turned by the project leader to the Extension Office by on Monday, September 10 just like the animal record books. This way the Shooting Sports Advisory Committee can verify your completion and include your record book score in some new awards for overall achievement, regardless of whether or not you submitted a tabletop exhibit at fair. El Paso County 4-H Newsletter Page 9 Tabletop News Tabletop Advisory Committee News Our final meeting of the Tabletop Committee made final preparations for the fair. Judges and their assistants are being secured. If you are interested in helping, call Maureen Bergenfeld (522‐0347). We are asking clubs who have members in tabletop projects to help in the Whittemore Bldg for a few hours during the fair. If you can set aside those few hours, please call David McIntosh at 330‐7750. Every club needs to help. Clean‐up of the Whittemore Bldg is Tuesday, July 17th, at noon. Bring your rags and buckets to help wash down the risers. Cloverbuds are surprisingly very good workers. We will also move the risers in place for judging and set up judging tables. Strong men and women, we need you too. Fashion Revue will be at the Extension Office. Commentaries are due the 28th of June. If you would like to MC the Revue, contact Maureen. See you all at the fair. Which E‐record Should You Be Using? Please remember, members must complete an E‐Record for every project they are enrolled in. Many projects require a Specific Project Information Page or Supplement to be completed, so be sure you are using the correct E‐Record. You can download the E‐Record you need from this website http://www.colorado4h.org/project_resources/erecords/index.php. You may find it helpful to also download the various e‐Record Users Guide, also available at the same site and location as the record books are located. It will have helpful information you can use to assist you in filling the books out. What should I bring with me to Exhibit Day? The Tabletop Exhibit Requirements (AKA Premium List) will tell you exactly what you need to bring with you for each project you are exhibiting. All projects require an E‐Record. Some also require a display board, object, additional documentation, pictures, etc. Exhibit Day Interview Schedule We will soon be posting the Tabletop Interview Schedule on the County Fair Information page on the county website. We will send all Tabletop members an email when it is complete. Be sure you are EARLY for ALL of your interviews! Tabletop Exhibit Pick Up Tabletop exhibits should be picked up at the Whittemore building on Sunday, July 29 from 9 am until noon. Champion projects that will be going on to State Fair will be annotated with a state fair sticker and will have a sheet of instructions stating when the project should be brought back to the Extension Office for delivery to State Fair. It will also include information on proper wrapping for safe delivery. If you cannot pick up your project, please make arrangements for someone who is going out to the Fairgrounds on Sunday to pick up your project for you. Those projects that are not picked up will be left at the Fairgrounds. You will need to contact the Fair Office at (719) 520‐7880 to make arrangements to pick up projects that are left at the Fairgrounds. Fashion Revue Practice There will be a Fashion Revue Practice on Monday, July 16th at 1:00pm in the Auditorium at the Extension Office. Please plan to attend if you are participating in Fashion Revue this year!
