DISCUSSION: These findings demonstrate that a 5-week individualized training program that required a
single additional session per week to be completed was effective at promoting recovery between repeated
sprint bouts and enhancing exercise capacity in an underperforming professional youth soccer player. Such
data supports previous findings (Mujika et al. 2007) and is likely to have important implications for
informing the training of soccer players; particularly those who are less responsive to team-based
conditioning sessions.
CONCLUSION: An individualized approach to training is effective when seeking to positively influence
adaptations in professional youth soccer players.
