PTA News
*Grandparents Day ~ April 9, Tomoka invited grandparents to come and visit
with their grandchildren. The PTA provided coffee and breakfast and thanks to
Tina Kuykendal our Hospitality Chair and our many volunteers it was a huge
success. The chorus provided entertainment for our guests and under Mrs. Ray’s
direction left quite an impression. The program was wonderful and very heartfelt
as well as the kind words from our Principal Ms. Johnson and a few of our
students. The grandparents then had the opportunity to visit their grandchild’s
classroom. This is a memorable event for both the students and their grandparents.
*Health Fair ~ “Be Brave and Be Healthy” was the theme this year and despite
the rain everyone had a great time. Sheri Bowling was the coordinator and did a
fabulous job lining up all of our participants. Thank you to Sheri for all her hard
work. Also, thank you to Adam Lindquist, who coordinated the “Healthy Lifestyle”
Media contest. Mayor Fred Costello was on hand to announce and congratulate our
winners at the event. Congratulations to the winners and thank you to all those
students who participated, as well as, our wonderful judges!!! It was a huge success
thanks to our hard working volunteers and the many participants who came out to
share information with our families and educate them on maintaining a healthy
lifestyle.
*Reflections ~Recently it was announced that two of our students’ Reflection
entries went on to win at State. We are so proud of Logan Littel and Emily Fichera.
This year’s them was “Beauty Is …”. Logan, who is a kindergartener, won for
primary film. Emily who is a fifth grader, won for primary photography.
Congratulations to the both of them. This is a wonderful program that the PTA
sponsors to encourage children and teach them an appreciation of art and
literature. Next year’s theme is “Together we can…”
