Kauai <strong>Works</strong>hop Review<br />

February's workshop was held on <strong>the</strong> 23rd and 24th at <strong>the</strong> Kauai<br />

Beach Hotel and Resort where <strong>the</strong>re was a big show of atten<br />

dance, forty-four in all. The topic of <strong>the</strong> workshop was surface<br />

water on Kauai, a public and private partnership.<br />

Thursday's program included six speakers who discussed how <strong>the</strong> partnership<br />

began through to its completion, ten years later; <strong>the</strong> rules and<br />

regulations governing surface water; and <strong>the</strong> daily operations of a surface<br />

water plant. The day ended with a "Meet and Greet" at <strong>the</strong><br />

Hanamalu Café.<br />

On Friday <strong>the</strong>re was a two-hour question and answer session with a<br />

panel consisting of Ed Tschupp, Mike Furukawa, Hugh Strom, Paul<br />

Schuler and Ivan Nakatsuka. Also included was a visit and tour of <strong>the</strong><br />

Grove Farm facility.<br />

Mahalo to Rona Miura, Debra Togioka and Wynne Ushigome for <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

assistance in making this a successful event.<br />
