Conference Is On It’s Way!<br />

It's about that time again, people! We have a great<br />
committee put toge<strong>the</strong>r; a great bunch of people<br />
who are eager to produce a successful, informative<br />
and attractive show. The Renaissance Ilikai<br />
Waikiki Hotel will again play host to our Annual Section<br />
Conference, and <strong>the</strong> conference will run from May<br />
9-12, 2006 (immediately following <strong>the</strong> AWWA National<br />
Desalination Symposium). The 2006 Hawaii Section<br />
<strong>American</strong> <strong>Water</strong> <strong>Works</strong> <strong>Association</strong> Conference Committee<br />
is proud to present this year's conference <strong>the</strong>me:<br />
"Innovation in <strong>Water</strong> Technologies for Preparedness,<br />
Security and Longevity"<br />
In light of <strong>the</strong> devastation felt in New Orleans due<br />
to Hurricane Katrina, it appears an emphasis needs to<br />
be placed on preparing, securing and perpetuating our<br />
precious water supplies. Whe<strong>the</strong>r it is through new invention<br />
and design, new materials and technologies, or<br />
new procedures and techniques in installation and repair,<br />
each day something is being done to improve our<br />
drinking water production and supply. Our conference<br />
should be a great way to display <strong>the</strong> advancements!<br />
Thanks to all who responded to <strong>the</strong> Call for Papers,<br />
and for those who called in with great topic and presentation<br />
ideas. We are again seeking Continuing Education<br />
Units for our conference which will feature <strong>the</strong>se<br />
great topics and presentations (may be subject to<br />

of golf at <strong>the</strong> <strong>Water</strong> for People Annual Golf Tournament,<br />
which is slated to be held at <strong>the</strong> Coral Creek Golf<br />
Course. Plus, <strong>the</strong> Tennis Tournament has been revived,<br />
so dust off <strong>the</strong> rackets and those tennis shoes!<br />
