Conference Is On It’s Way!

It's about that time again, people! We have a great
committee put together; a great bunch of people
who are eager to produce a successful, informative
and attractive show. The Renaissance Ilikai
Waikiki Hotel will again play host to our Annual Section
Conference, and the conference will run from May
9-12, 2006 (immediately following the AWWA National
Desalination Symposium). The 2006 Hawaii Section
American Water Works Association Conference Committee
is proud to present this year's conference theme:
"Innovation in Water Technologies for Preparedness,
Security and Longevity"
In light of the devastation felt in New Orleans due
to Hurricane Katrina, it appears an emphasis needs to
be placed on preparing, securing and perpetuating our
precious water supplies. Whether it is through new invention
and design, new materials and technologies, or
new procedures and techniques in installation and repair,
each day something is being done to improve our
drinking water production and supply. Our conference
should be a great way to display the advancements!
Thanks to all who responded to the Call for Papers,
and for those who called in with great topic and presentation
ideas. We are again seeking Continuing Education
Units for our conference which will feature these
great topics and presentations (may be subject to
change):

In addition, we are hosting a UH Student Poster
Contest at the conference. Also, plan on a great round
of golf at the Water for People Annual Golf Tournament,
which is slated to be held at the Coral Creek Golf
Course. Plus, the Tennis Tournament has been revived,
so dust off the rackets and those tennis shoes!
