HAWAII SECTION AWWA<br />

2006 Scholarship Program<br />

PURPOSE<br />

To provide financial assistance to AWWA-Hawaii Section members and <strong>the</strong>ir dependents in <strong>the</strong>ir quest for<br />

higher education, and to encourage academic and social excellence.<br />

ELIGIBILITY<br />

Member: Any dues-paying member of <strong>the</strong> AWWA/Hawaii Section.<br />

Dependent: Person claimed as a dependent on most recent income tax return of member. Must be at least<br />

a senior in high school and working toward a full-time enrollment at an accredited college or university or<br />

full-time student enrolled in courses leading to a Bachelor or Graduate degree. Financial need is not a<br />

criterion. Engineering major is not a criterion. Previous recipients, since 2003, are not eligible. Previous<br />

two-time AWWA/Hawaii Section scholarship recipients, prior to 2003, are not eligible.<br />

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS<br />

Submit application form<br />

Transcripts of education.<br />

Brief essay relevant to scholarship application (maximum of one page, double-spaced text).<br />

AWARD<br />

A maximum of two $1,500.00 scholarships will be awarded to <strong>the</strong> most outstanding applicant(s) as<br />

determined by <strong>the</strong> Scholarship Committee. All member applicants or parent members of <strong>the</strong> applicants<br />

shall be invited to <strong>the</strong> AWWA/Hawaii Section Annual Conference awards luncheon at no charge.<br />

SELECTION<br />

Consideration will be given to applicants who are dedicated to <strong>the</strong>ir studies, have set goals for <strong>the</strong>mselves,<br />

and have developed a desire for post-high school education.<br />

TIME SCHEDULE<br />

All applications must be submitted no later than Friday, March 17, 2006.<br />

The Scholarship Committee's decision will be announced at <strong>the</strong> Annual AWWA/Hawaii Section Conference<br />

on Thursday, May 11, 2006. The awards will be available for Fall 2006 and will be presented to <strong>the</strong><br />

recipient upon proof of registration.<br />
