SFOA’s mission is to support the growth<br />
and development of the global derivatives<br />
industry and the strengthening of market<br />
integrity.<br />
A special word of appreciation<br />
In my capacity as Chairman of the Swiss<br />
Futures and Options Association, I would like<br />
to express my gratitude and pleasure to be<br />
associated with the Federation of Euro-Asian<br />
Stock Exchanges. I hope that this will help<br />
us in our mutual effort to further contribute to<br />
strengthen the ties between <strong>FEAS</strong> and SFOA.<br />
I believe that this is a further step to harmonize<br />
market practices and behavior globally.<br />

(SFOA)<br />
The Swiss Futures and Options Association<br />
(SFOA) - previously Swiss Commodities,<br />
Futures and Options Association - was founded<br />
in 1979 as a non-profit professional association.<br />
A global mission<br />
Its mission is to support the growth and<br />
development of the global derivatives industry<br />
and the strengthening of market integrity<br />
through its annual international gathering and<br />
conference and regulatory summit, as well<br />
as its initiatives in the area of education and<br />
editing of industry focused publications.<br />
The goals of the association<br />
• To serve the industry, the participants in the<br />
industry and their products - in the widest<br />
sense - and to help set the standards of<br />
quality and service for its members.<br />
• To set a basis for self-regulation for all those<br />
who are involved or interested in becoming<br />
involved in the futures and options industry.<br />
• To inform all our members and friends about<br />
news relating to the industry, opportunities<br />
offered for personal development by means<br />
of attending seminars, road shows and<br />
presentations.<br />
• To present new products and the<br />
opportunities offered by their use, in a<br />
realistic and concise manner.<br />
• To organize presentations, seminars and<br />
workshops, which promote specific markets<br />
or market segments and to educate<br />
practitioners and those who would like to<br />
become industry participants.<br />
• To actively participate and co-operate with<br />
those public and/or government entities in<br />
charge of drafting new legislation and/or of<br />
reviewing and adapting existing ones.<br />
• To maintain and develop existing and<br />
establish new links with International<br />
Organizations (i.e. UNCTAD), Associations<br />
and Federations (i.e. <strong>FEAS</strong>, FIA, FOA, ICMA,<br />
FECIF, CIFA, SBA etc.) for the benefit of their<br />
and our members.<br />
• To organize an International Forum providing<br />
top ranking industry professionals with<br />
the opportunity to meet, and to offer the<br />
possibility to publicly debate topics crucial<br />
to the industry.<br />
• To organize the International « Bürgenstock<br />
» Regulator’s Meeting, unique in its<br />
attendance and purpose.<br />
• To provide the emerging markets with a<br />
platform of discussion and exchange of<br />
ideas with well-established markets and<br />
market participants in close cooperation<br />
with AFM - the Association of Futures<br />
Markets.<br />
• To assist individuals and institutions to<br />
locate the best source of information and<br />
service to suit their specific needs and, if<br />
needed, to assist them in their research<br />
for facts and figures about the industry, its<br />
participants and products.<br />
Next international industry meeting<br />
34th Intl. SFOA “Bürgenstock” Symposium,<br />
Geneva/ Switzerland, to take place from 25th to<br />
27th September <strong>2013</strong>. Program and information<br />
will soon be available on www.burgenstock.org<br />
Swiss Derivatives Review<br />
The Swiss Derivatives Review (SDR) is the<br />
official publication of the Swiss Futures and<br />
Options Association featuring articles about<br />
regulation, education, products, events etc.<br />
being in relation with the associations goals.<br />
SDR is published 3 times yearly and close to<br />
10’000 copies are printed, sent to subscribers<br />
and distributed at international industry events,<br />
at no charge to the reader. An electronic version<br />
of the past editions is downloadable from our<br />
