2010<br />

JANUARY<br />

▶ All activities connected to<br />

aircraft handling and passenger<br />

check-in were transferred to the<br />

subsidiary Company<br />

ČSA Support, s.r.o.<br />

▶ Czech Airlines won the Rhodos<br />

Award for Company image for<br />

the second year in a row.<br />

▶ A tender for the purchase of<br />

Czech Airlines’ independent<br />

business unit, Duty Free,<br />

was won by a member of the<br />

international group Lagardére<br />

Services, Aelia Czech Republic.<br />

FEBRUARY<br />

▶ An extraordinary General<br />

Meeting of Czech Airlines discussed<br />

an offer by a party seriously<br />

interested in cooperation<br />

in the field of charter transport<br />

and gave the Management of<br />

the Company a mandate to<br />

continue negotiations.<br />

▶ A subsidiary Company of Czech<br />

Airlines, ČSA Support, s.r.o.,<br />

was renamed Czech Airlines<br />

Handling, s.r.o., after it took<br />

over all operations connected<br />

to aircraft handling and passenger<br />

check-in.<br />

▶ The European Commission<br />

launched a formal investigation<br />

to review all stabilization and<br />

restructuring steps undertaken<br />

in Czech Airlines, including<br />

the audit of a loan provided to<br />

Czech Airlines by OSINEK, a.s.<br />

▶ The transfer of an independent<br />

sales unit SOJ Duty Free<br />

to Aelia Czech Republic was<br />

completed. 79 employees of<br />

Czech Airlines were transferred<br />

to the new employer.<br />

▶ Czech Airlines won the Best<br />

Airline Company category in<br />

the TTG Travel Awards competition<br />

for the tenth time.<br />

MARCH<br />

▶ Czech Airlines decided not<br />

to accept an offer by Travel<br />

Service relating to strategic<br />

cooperation in the field of charter<br />

transport. The Company<br />

preferred to hive off the nonscheduled<br />

transport services to<br />

a subsidiary Company.<br />

▶ The summer flight timetable<br />

came into effect at the end of<br />

March. In the summer season<br />

of 2010, Czech Airlines offered<br />

regular flights to 110 destinations<br />

in 45 countries of the<br />

world, of which 68 destinations<br />

in 38 countries were operated<br />

within its own flight network.<br />

APRIL<br />

▶ The Supervisory Board agreed<br />

to the proposal of the Board of<br />

Directors to present the newly<br />

prepared Restructuring Plan<br />

to the Ministry of Finance of<br />

the Czech Republic in order to<br />

fulfil the relevant Government<br />

Resolution.<br />

▶ The eruption of an Icelandic<br />

volcano stopped air traffic over<br />

Europe for almost seven days.<br />

Czech Airlines was unable<br />

to dispatch more than 900<br />

flights; an estimated 75,000<br />

Czech Airlines passengers were<br />

affected.<br />

▶ The state visit by US president<br />

Barack Obama and the Russian<br />

president Dmitry Medvedev<br />

was one of the most important<br />

events of the year. The employees<br />

of the non-contractual<br />

handling firm Czech Airlines<br />

Handling were in charge of the<br />

handling of the Russian side’s<br />

aircraft.<br />

MAY<br />

▶ The Czech Government approved<br />

the Czech Airlines<br />

Restructuring Plan intended to<br />

transform the Company into<br />

a stable enterprise. The Plan<br />

confirms that the Company<br />

is heading in the direction of<br />

a holding structure.<br />

▶ Czech Airlines launched an innovated<br />

version of its website.<br />

▶ An extraordinary General<br />

Meeting of Czech Airlines decided<br />

to increase the Company’s<br />

registered capital, and to go<br />

ahead with the capitalization of<br />

a loan from OSINEK, a.s.<br />

▶ The transfer of Hangar F to<br />

Prague Airport was completed.<br />

The new owner guarantees<br />

Czech Airlines long-term usage<br />

rights.<br />

JUNE<br />

▶ Since 1 June 2010, the charter<br />

services of Czech Airlines have<br />

been handled by the airline’s<br />

subsidiary HOLIDAYS Czech<br />

Airlines, a.s.<br />

▶ The inevitability of restructuring<br />

the Company and the<br />

correctness of its direction was<br />

confirmed by the Czech Airline<br />

Pilots Association CZALPA<br />

on the basis of an independent<br />

analysis it had commissioned<br />

by agreement with the<br />

Management of the Company.<br />

▶ The Czech Airlines General<br />

Meeting of shareholders approved<br />

steps transforming the<br />

Technical Department into an<br />

independent subsidiary.
