Foreword by Carrickfergus DPP Chairman
I am pleased to comment in the foreword of this publication of the Local Policing
Plan for 2009 – 2010.
The past year has remained a challenging one for Policing in the Borough on a
number of fronts. Even though this summer saw an improvement in the serious
public disorder observed in the previous period during which the lives of both the
police and civilians were threatened, thankfully these instances appear to have
diminished and I would call on all members of the community with influence to
make sure that Carrickfergus is recognised for its many assets and help to build
a safe community for us all.
We welcomed Chief Inspector Natalie Wilson to Carrickfergus and look forward
to a mutually beneficial working relationship with her and the rest of her team.
This has also been a year where budgets are becoming increasingly tightened
and Carrickfergus DPP working in partnership with the PSNI will continue to
work hard to ensure that our local service is properly resourced.
The District Policing Partnership engaged with a number of groups from across
the community/voluntary/business and church sectors and we are always happy
to perform our role as a conduit between the community and local policing.
We will continue to welcome feedback and initiatives from the public that will
make Carrickfergus a safer place to live, work and play.
Working in Partnership we can achieve our goals.

Foreword by Carrickfergus Area Commander
This document sets out our Policing Plan for the coming financial year. It is
effectively our commitment as to what we will be doing to make Carrickfergus
Area a safer place.
The District Policing Partnership and myself have engaged extensively with each
other and with the community to help us identify the key issues of concern on
which we will concentrate our resources.
We remain dedicated to tackling anti social behaviour, burglary, violent crime
and drugs.
The aim of my team is to provide a high quality of service to all and work in
partnership with local communities to tackle and reduce levels of crime. Our
ultimate goal is to make Carrickfergus Borough a safer place for all who live,
work and socialise in it. Without your assistance, your support and your
co-operation we will be unable to achieve these goals.
