Carrickfergus Policing Plan Objective Performance Indicator Target 1. In partnership with the community and other agencies, to make communities and neighbourhoods safe and feel safe 2. To continue to build, broaden and sustain confidence in the police 3. To ensure that Policing with the Community is at the core of delivery of the policing service 1.1 The number of recorded crimes. 1.2 The level of more serious violent crimes. 1.3 The number of domestic burglaries. 1.4 The availability of illegal drugs. 1.5 The number of incidents of anti-social behaviour. 1.7 The number of people killed or seriously injured on the road. 2.4 The percentage of recorded crimes cleared. 3.1 Implementation of the five principles of Policing with the Community: • Service delivery • Partnership • Problem solving • Empowerment • Accountability 1.1.1 To reduce the total number of crimes recorded in line with service targets (1) 1.2.1 To reduce the level of more serious violent crime. (2) 1.3.1 To reduce the total number of domestic burglaries in line with service targets (1) 1.4.1 To increase the number of drugs seizures by 5% (2) 1.5.2 To increase the volume of alcohol seizures by 10% (3) 1.7.3 To reduce the number of persons killed or seriously injured on the roads and increase the number of preliminary breath tests administered by 5% (3) 2.4.2 To increase the clearance rate by 3% points. 3.1.3 To ensure the Neighbourhood Police officers work at least 80% of their duty hours on Neighbourhood Policing duties.(4) 3.1.4 To increase the number of community meetings through community forums including (PACT) (5) 12
Footnotes 1. Reductions will represent the Area’s contribution to the Service wide reduction and the annual milestone for this indicator will be confirmed when the 2008/09 crime statistics are released in June 2009. 2. The reduction target will be based upon the total number at the end of 2008-2009. 3. Targets will be measured against performance achieved at 31 March 2009. 4. Priority will be given to officers working within their own sector. 5. Measured locally through qualitative report to demonstrate our contribution to the establishment of community engagement meetings and reported to the DPP. Carrickfergus 13
