Measuring Stirrer ViscoPakt ®<br />

The Visco-Pakt measuring stirrer is a strong stirring<br />

an torque measuring system with speed regulation<br />

<strong>and</strong> state-of-the-art torque measurement sensitivity.<br />

The drive unit requires only a fraction of the space<br />

needed by usual measuring stirrers, allowing more<br />

valuable space for the reactor head. Due to its<br />

compact construction, it also fits into a small<br />

apparatus, e.g. a 250 mL reactor system. The small<br />

dimensions of the drive were achieved by separating<br />

the stirrer from its control unit. The separate<br />

controller has a keypad <strong>and</strong> an LC display, which<br />

shows the torque <strong>and</strong> rotational speed.<br />

The measured torque is automatically corrected<br />

using the speed dependent “zero torque”.<br />

In many applications, ViscoPakt delivers important<br />

additional information. For polymerization <strong>and</strong> polycondensation,<br />

the initiation or completion of a<br />

reaction, which cause a change in the viscosity, can<br />

be read off <strong>and</strong> identified via the torque.<br />

The power dissipated from stirring, which is of<br />

interest for reaction calorimetry, can be determined<br />

from the torque <strong>and</strong> speed of rotation.<br />

As the design has no gearing, an extraordinarily<br />

large range of torque can be continuously achieved<br />

with no switching.<br />

Glass stirrers are protected from breaking by softstart<br />

<strong>and</strong> torque limiters.<br />

ViscoPakt ® -rheo<br />

The ViscoPakt-Rheo model series is equipped with<br />

precision-torque measuring. The zero torque, which<br />

depends on the rotational speed, is registered by an<br />

automatic calibration process <strong>and</strong> is used to correct<br />

the actual torque signal. This allows the on-line<br />

determination of the viscosity (via a calibration table)<br />

as well as of other rheological parameters.<br />

ViscoPakt ® -rheo+<br />

The model series ViscoPakt-Rheo+ is based on<br />

most modern brushless drives. Consequently, they<br />

are absolutely maintenance-free <strong>and</strong> the friction<br />

moment caused by the brush is no longer existent at<br />

ViscoTrol Control Unit for Three-Phase Stirrer Drive<br />

The ViscoTrol control units enable an electronically<br />

controlled variation of the rotational speed of three<br />

phase stirrer drives <strong>and</strong> the electronic collection of<br />

the torque. Due to this, adjustable gear units <strong>and</strong><br />

<strong>and</strong> measuring shafts are no longer necessary.<br />

The st<strong>and</strong>ard ViscoTrol family meets simple<br />

requirements in regard to precision.<br />

Higher dem<strong>and</strong>s to precision are met by the<br />

ViscoTrol rheo family.<br />

Due to unsufficiant cooling when in low rpm mode it<br />

is recommended to adjust the motor via the set point<br />

Stirrer Couplings<br />

These stirrer shaft coulings are made of POM, a<br />

mechanically stable light-weight plastic. The power<br />

transmission is conducted via a novel internally<br />

ViscoGraph allows the automation of stirringtechnological<br />

tests with the ViscoPakt Torque<br />

Measurement Stirrer.<br />

The Programme enables:<br />

� Measurement of the torque in dependency of the<br />

speed<br />

� User-defined Torque Profiles<br />

� Measurement of the Viscosity<br />

� Zero Torque Calibration<br />

With the buttons on the left, it is possible to call up<br />

the various functions of ViscoGraph. The current<br />

values of the test period, rotation speed etc., are<br />

presented in the view boxes.<br />

The diagrams present the procedure of speed <strong>and</strong><br />

torque via the time.<br />

The speed profile can be defined via up to 10<br />

sampling points:<br />

it is possible to select for each speed sampling point,<br />

if the speed is approached via a jump or a ramp:<br />

The data is stored in the *.csv format <strong>and</strong> can<br />

undergo further processing with programmes such<br />

as MS-Excel.<br />

The measurement system can be extended by<br />

further measurement variables with the help of the<br />

digital measuring amplifier.<br />

Drives<br />

These high-performance drives for laboratory<br />

applications meet all requirements to modern <strong>and</strong><br />

compact laboratory drives <strong>and</strong> represent a<br />

guarantee for safe <strong>and</strong> successful working in the<br />

laboratory.<br />

Together with the accessories, you already dispose<br />

of a wide application range:<br />

� Homogenisation<br />

� <strong>Dispersing</strong><br />

� Emulsifying<br />

� Suspending<br />

This can be utilised for the preparation of analyses<br />

as well as in reactor acceleration.<br />

The rotational speed of the drives can be adjusted<br />

continuously up to 35,000 rpm.<br />

The exchange of tools is fast <strong>and</strong> uncomplicated<br />

with the patented tool receptacle system.<br />

Tools<br />

The tools consist of rotor <strong>and</strong> stator. The rotor<br />

geometry generates a strong pumping effect. Due to<br />

this, the media is suctioned into the operational<br />

range between rotor <strong>and</strong> stator. Here, high<br />

frequency vertical <strong>and</strong> horizontal pulsations are<br />

generated. Due to the high exit speeds, ultrasonic<br />

frequencies are generated at the stator slits. This<br />

leads to cavitation.<br />

A balanced interaction between shear forces <strong>and</strong><br />

percussion effects transfers the the liquid media<br />

intended for processing into the finest state. This<br />

significantly shortens process periods <strong>and</strong> reduces<br />

the heat input.<br />

The tools are made of acid-resistant high-grade<br />

steel 316L. They can be sterilised <strong>and</strong> are<br />

autoclaveable.<br />

The special shaft geometry enables fast tool<br />

exchange. PTFE rings prevent the medium from<br />

rising into the shaft tube.<br />
