AutoSam is a fully automatic sample handling 

system with varied application possibilities. The 

robust construction enables deployment in rough 

plant environment.

In connection with an automation device or a control 

PC with the LiquiMaster control software, it is 

possible to realise any procedures time or processcontrolled 

according to specification of test period, 

time etc.

Occurring sample waste and rinsing solutions are 

collected in a separate waste container. Due to the 

utilisation of inert materials and freely programmable 

rinsing cycles is eliminated and sterility ensured in 

bioprocesses. 

The AutoSam can be deployed as sample dispenser, 

respectively as a multicomponent collector, as the 

needle can be lowered right down to the bottle base. 

The precise control allows selective liquid/liquid 

phase separation through siphoning off to phase 

limit level. 

Optionally, it is possible to assemble digital inputs 

and outputs to switch external valves or pumps or to 

query monitors for filling level, pressure, etc. This 

enables easy realisation of liquid handling systems. 

Bottles with septa can be used as sample vessels. 

Vessels (e.g. 1.5 and 2ml-E-Caps) sealed with 

plastic covers or thin membranes are suited. By 

exchanging the sample tray, it is possible to switch 

to different vessel sizes. 

AutoSam300 as a fully integrated Process Component 

The AutoSam is connected to the HiTec Zang 

LabManager or any other control system via serial 

interface. The control is easily conducted via HiText- 

Program or HiBatch basis operations. This ensures 

uncomplicated integration into the HiTec Zang LUIit 

and MultiLab systems. 

The module IL-AUTOSAM-SA enables an optional 

connection of an internal 2/3 way valve or an 

external pump a stand-alone sampling without 

external control device. 

The parameters sample amount, intervall and filling 

time can be set via the AutoSam control panel. 

For stand-alone application, the „LiquiMaster“ 

Software is available, which enables table or scriptbased 

schedule control for AutoSam with two/threeway 

valve in combination with our peristaltic and 

syringe pumps. 

The sample tray can be exchanged by merely lifting 

the old one and fitting the new one. 

The devices are automatically able to identify an 

exchange of the sample tray and the number of 

sample positions of the sample tray. 

We advise to order the devices with at least two 

sample trays in order to prevent the necessity to 

individually change the sample bottles.

AutoSam300 


The AutoSam 300 is the basic device of the 

AutoSam type series. It is chargeable with sample 

tray for sample bottles reaching from 2 ml to 100 ml 

and, if necessary, fits well into a cooling incubator. 

At the zero position of the sample tray, the needle is 

able to deliver into the waste. At the rear panel of the 

device, there is a tube connection used for 

connection to the waste container (waste). 

With the control panel, it is possible to

Accessories, Options 

2/3-Way Valve 


This 2/3 way valve for AutoSam sample collectors is 

mounted on the needle sliding carriage. 

The needle is directly attached at the valve fitting so 

that there is no tube between needle and valve. This 

leads to minimum dead volume and accordingly 

minimal flushing losses. 

For activation, the valve requires one of the three 

possible digital switching outputs. 

Material in contact with media: PTFE. Other 

materials are available upon request. 

Tube diameter 3 to 3.2 mm.

Tandem Equipment 

At devices and trays with tandem equipment there 

are always two sample bottles at every position 

which can be separately filled, respectively emptied. 

Out of the first vessel, e.g. an reactant can be 

provided whilst a product sample is filled into the 

second vessel.

Additional Components for Liquid Handling 

Liquid Handling applications are laborious and timeconsuming, 

if conducted manually. With the 

AutoSam liquid handlers, it is possible to realise 

liquid handling processes efficiently and precisely 

and consequently significantly reduce the amount of 

work. 

AutoSam Liquid handlers are flexibly deployable 

and, next to the precise and fast bottling of samples, 

enable applications such as: 

� Dispensing 

� Multiple Dispensing 

� Diluting and 

� Pipetting. 

Due to the possibility to control the processes with 

HiText, it is also possible to realise complex systems 

with integrated sensor systems and integration into 

plant automation etc. A liquid handling system 

consists of an AutoSam, an electrical pump unit, a 

LabBox/manager system, and further optional 

peripheral equipment. As pumps, the LiquiDos and 

LabDos peristaltic pumps or the SyrDos syringe 

pump with 2/3 way valve are particularly suited. 

Single and double needles with inerting and venting 

connections are available as feeding needles.

LiquiMaster Control Software 

The LiquiMaster Software is intended for the 

realisation of stand-alone liquid handling 

applications with AutoSam devices. 

With the LiquidMaster, it is possible to realise 

spreadsheet or script-based schedule control for 

AutoSam with 2/3 -way valve in combination with 

our LabDos and LiquiDos peristaltic pumps and the 

SyrDos syringe pumps. 

LiquiMaster can control the sampling optionally by 

the integrated 2/3 way valve or/and with a LabDos 

peristaltic pump. 

Timings for valves and pumps, the pumpheads 

rotational speed and delivery volume as well as the 

cleaing time/volume can be parameterised. 

Sampling times will be managed be the timetable 

element. 

The programm creates a protocol of all executed 

sampling. 

With the ight version (SL-LIQUIML) an AutoSam can 

be used for standard samplings. 

The LiquiMaster full version uses the additional 

freely programmable HiText syntax, with which 

additional valves and pumps can be controlled and 

sensors can be integrated. 

The optional AutoSam feature.connector (IL- 

AUTOSAM-FEACON) enables the connection of two 

additional valves and two binary sensors at the 

AutoSam. With the RS232 interface additional 

sensors and devices can be integrated.
