Why Study Drama?

The course offers various experiences to students including
the completion of practical projects based upon set pieces of
drama and original devised work.
Students will have the opportunity to develop a broad range
of skills within the theatre including, performing, directing,
design, creative writing as well as technical skills. There will
also be an opportunity to experiment with technical skills
when developing creative practical work.
Visits and workshops lead by experts in various relevant fields
are also arranged.
Students are also expected to undertake research work by
frequently visiting the theatre, reading a variety of plays and
experiment when creating performances e.g use of site
specific locations.
By undertaking the study of drama students are expected to
contribute to and support open evenings and productions.
Students will study a variety of genres and practitioners
including Artaud Brecht, Berkoff, Stanislavski and Theatre of
the Absurd.
