The qualification has been designed to give new entrants to<br />
the engineering sector the underpinning knowledge and<br />
specific skills needed to meet the needs of modern<br />
mechanical engineering industries.<br />
The course will provide learners with the required<br />
underpinning knowledge of health and safety, mathematics,<br />
science, communications and project planning and<br />
implementation for success in the specialist units and the<br />
engineering workplace.<br />
The qualification is equivalent to 1.5 A-Levels over a period of<br />
two years.<br />

The course will provide learners with opportunities for<br />
progression within and into employment. The qualification<br />
has also been designed so that learners can progress into<br />
Higher Education, for example to BTEC Higher Nationals and<br />
undergraduate engineering degree qualifications.<br />

intend progressing into senior technician roles as well as for<br />
those who are not yet based in industry and wish to gain a<br />
