A.C.T.C.A. FOURTH GRADE by MICK O'RYAN<br />
ROUND 3 v City<br />
City won the toss and elected to bat on a superb Mawson pitch that offered a little<br />
to the bowler early but was mainly a batsman's dream.<br />
City, however, struggled to 164 off 77 overs, including a last wicket partnership of<br />
40. Hugh Abrahams took the bowling honours with 4 for 46 off 21 overs.<br />
We had to bat from 5 pm and Ron Smith (42) and Steve McDonald (66) got us off to a<br />
great start to finish at 0 for 75 at stumps.<br />
We continued the good batting next week to be eventually all out for 246. Alex Simmons<br />
(59), Paul Reardon (18) and Mick O'Ryan (31) all got runs. A good victory that<br />
put us on top of the ladder.<br />
ROUND 4 v NORTHS<br />
We again lost the toss and Norths elected to bat on another beautiful Mawson pitch.<br />
After having Norths on their knees at 5 for 45 we let them off the hook and they ground<br />
their way to 9 for 186 off 87 overs. Mick O'Ryan 5 for 23 . and Steve Barnsley<br />
(Welcome back) 2 for 39 bowled well.<br />
We finished the day at 1 for 3 before appealing successfully against the light.<br />
