North Dakota sells more goods to Canada<br />

than to all other countries combined. The<br />

total Canada-North Dakota goods trade<br />

equals $5.8 billion. Forty-five percent of<br />

North Dakota’s exports to Canada are energyrelated,<br />

with crude petroleum making up<br />

$1.1 billion in exports and fuel oil making up<br />

$182 million. Here is a breakdown of North<br />

Dakota exports to Canada:<br />

• Energy (45%);<br />

• Agriculture (19%);<br />

• Equipment & machinery (16%);<br />

• Transportation (10%);<br />

• Chemicals (7%);<br />

• Minerals & metals (2%); and<br />

• Other (2%).<br />
