Voyages <strong>of</strong> Discovery (sponsored by the Bruce & Joy Reid<br />

<strong>Foundation</strong>) saw two additional stories during the year.<br />

the journal <strong>of</strong> astronomer William Wales, who sailed with<br />

Captain Cook on the Resolution, was digitised to tell the<br />

story <strong>of</strong> his voyage and his contribution to the development<br />

<strong>of</strong> accurate navigational techniques at sea. the dramatic<br />

tale <strong>of</strong> the death <strong>of</strong> Captain James Cook was explored<br />

through the journal <strong>of</strong> First Lieutenant James Burney and<br />

published accounts.<br />

Looking East — Darling Point & Beyond (sponsored by<br />

Belinda Hutchinson aM & Roger Massy-Greene) now<br />

showcases the stories <strong>of</strong> two eminent 19th century<br />

darling Point families — the Morts and the Horderns<br />

— and their architect-designed villas. Photographs and<br />

architectural plans by Edmund Blacket and the firm <strong>of</strong><br />

Morrow & deputron were digitised to illustrate this story.<br />

Cricket in Australia (sponsored by Sir Ron Brierley,<br />

Guinness Peat Group). additional photographs <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Sydney Cricket Ground and cricket teams at the turn <strong>of</strong><br />

the 20th century were digitised and added to the <strong>Library</strong>’s<br />

original materials catalogue.<br />
