Robert Mondavi Winery Summer Concert Series
Napa Valley Winery hosts five artists in festival’s 43rd year
In the spirit of Robert Mondavi’s belief that wine, food and the
arts are an essential part of American life, the 2012 Robert Mondavi
Winery Summer Concert Series began with O.A.R. taking the stage at
the winery on June 30. Multi-platinum singer, songwriter and actor
Josh Groban will perform the final concert on July 21st benefitting
the The Napa Valley School’s Music and Art Programs and his own
Find Your Light Foundation. Margrit Mondavi founded this annual
concert series in 1969, quickly becoming an anticipated wine country
tradition.
Throughout the festival’s 43-year history, more than $2 million in
proceeds has been raised for the Napa Valley Symphony, Napa Valley
Opera House and the Napa Valley Unified School District. Proceeds
from ticket sales of this year’s series will directly benefit the Napa
Valley Unified School District.
Perhaps best known for their hit “Superman,” Five for Fighting
will bring their smooth vocals to the winery on July 14 for the “Hope
in the Vineyard” concert. City of Hope is a national cancer research
and treatment center, providing patients with specialized care.
The summer concert series concludes July 21 with the “Spotlight
on To Kalon” performance by Josh Groban. “Robert Mondavi Winery
is the perfect place to experience the musical genius of Josh Groban.
You can be a part of a world-class musical performance, watch the
moon rise over the vineyard, and enjoy wonderful wines,” says Carl
Jaeger, Estate Director at Robert Mondavi Winery. “Making music and
making wine are both artistic expressions and this performance
marks the beginning of a collaboration between Josh and the
winery.”
“With the goal of sharing our love for the arts with the local
community, we couldn’t imagine a better collection of artists to
perform at this year’s festival,” says Carl Jaeger, Estate Director at
Robert Mondavi Winery. “The diversity of acts coupled with the
unique charities that will benefit
from the concerts combines to
bring evenings of world-class
wine and entertainment, right
here in our backyard.”
The Robert Mondavi Winery
Festival started as a small venture
in the arts, with tickets costing
only $3 and drawing a modest
crowd of 400 attendees. Since its
inception, the festival has hosted
more than 100 performers and
now draws thousands every year.
From the first performance by the
Napa Valley Symphony, a guitar
soloist, and the Xoregos Dance
Company, the festival has grown
32
to showcase world-renowned jazz, R&B and pop artists.
All performances begin at 7 p.m. and are held at the Robert
Mondavi Winery on Highway 29 in Oakville, Napa Valley. Ticket
prices vary by performance. For additional information and to
