Golden Haven Hot Springs
BY KARIN ARGOUD
Want to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and
not spend a fortune? Calm your mind, sooth your soul and beautify
your body at Golden Haven Hot Springs and Spa. This charming
Calistoga Spa is nestled in the heart of the legendary Napa Valley
Wine Country and has everything you need for the perfect getaway at
the perfect price. Melt your troubles away with the magical Calistoga
hot springs water and rejuvenating spa treatments at Golden Haven.
People have been coming to Calistoga for over a hundred years to
enjoy the hot springs mineral waters. Why? The Calistoga mineral
waters contain more than 35 minerals and have been touted to have
great health benefits. Besides, it’s fun and if you love wine, Golden
Haven offers guests a winery guide with great deals on tours and
tastings.
Or maybe you want to just take a deep breath and unwind. You
deserve to feel this good, balanced, rested and connected with
yourself. So go ahead, spoil yourself with a soothing massage, or
luxurious herbal facial, or detoxifying European Body Wraps and
relax in a mud bath. Staff members will guide you throughout the
entire process of a traditional mud bath that this Calistoga spa is
known for. Golden Haven’s private treatment rooms for mud baths
were chosen as the favorite mud bath experience of all the Napa
Valley spas.
“What people really love about this place is that we are oriented
towards couples and we are one of the only spas in town that does
the traditional mud bath for couples,” said General Manager, Barry
Stern. Stern explains that a traditional mud bath is a thick
combination of clay, peat moss and hot springs mineral water. “What
we have here is really thick mud,” adds Stern. “Some Calistoga spas
just add water to clay, so it’s more like a liquid. At Golden Haven, you
will enjoy the traditional mud bath that is world famous.” Stern says
that the peat moss gives thickness and buoyancy to the mud “So you
are floating, which makes it
relaxing, it sooths your muscles
and takes out toxins.” Stern says
it’s fun too, because you can take
a mud bath together in a private
room for two. The mud bath is
flushed after every use with hot
mineral water at temperatures
between 102 and 104 degrees.
Between treatments, you can
soak in sun and enjoy the
outdoor pool and Jacuzzi heated
naturally with water from the
Calistoga hot springs, which
emerges from the ground at 140-
degrees. The minerals in the
water are excellent for softening
your skin. The pool is housed in
42
an inviting cabana that also includes a shower and changing room.
There is a sun deck, floral gardens and picnic area.44_ too.
“We offer the best deals in Calistoga,” said Stern. He wants guests
to know that Golden Haven Hot Springs “offers a really great
experience with wonderful services. We are welcoming,
unpretentious, comfortable and affordable!”
All the rooms have been remodeled in last five years and include a
private bath or shower, color cable TV, air conditioning, a refrigerator,
and complimentary coffee, tea and bottled water. There are three
types of rooms: standard rooms, superior rooms and the most
popular Jacuzzi rooms. Those rooms feature a full size whirlpool spa,
king bed, vaulted ceilings and dressing area.
Make sure, before booking a room, to go to the website and check
out their current specials. It’s usually more affordable to come on a
weekday, but right now they are offering Sizzling Summer Specials.
For only $319 you can stay in a superior room and get mud baths
and massages for two. Check website for specific dates at
