Regensburg’s Old Town is not only
famous for its rich history and
many unique stores but also for
its restaurants and nightlife.
Regensburg’s restaurants offer everything
from regional Bavarian specialties
to culinary delights from all over
the world. As soon as the first rays of spring
sun warm the city, tables and chairs are set
outside and the entire town is transformed
into a veritable outdoor paradise. Cafés
spring up in the streets, the city’s courtyards
turn into idyllic outdoor restaurants
with Regensburg’s historic backdrop giving
it all an Italian flair.
To escape the heat of hot summer days, the
visitor can enjoy the cool shade under giant
chestnut trees in classic Bavarian beer
gardens. Two popular beer gardens can be
found right next to the Stone Bridge. Here
you can enjoy refreshing food and drink
while taking in the unforgettable views of
the cathedral and city across the river.
The 30,000 students from Regensburg’s
three universities guarantee a lively nightlife.
Bars and clubs invite the visitor to party
and dance into the early morning hours.
Historical Wurstkuchl
The historical “Wurstkuchl” located right
next to the Stone Bridge is one of Regensburg’s
most unique little restaurants. For
over 500 years, this traditional little tavern
has been offering food and refreshment.
In summer enjoy the homemade sausages
cooked on the traditional charcoal grill
while sitting outside enjoying the beautiful
view of the Danube.
