It’s hard to believe how you get a 20kg, 50cc Water Cooled 2-Stroke to 95kmph in little<br />
under 6 se<strong>co</strong>nds.....but believe me it’s for real, and you had better hang on!<br />
Local teenager Connor LeCheminant has the proof, and he yearns<br />
for more – twice a month; once at a local Auckland track in Mt<br />
Wellington, and more importantly once a month at Taumaranui at<br />
the NZMMRC national series. Connor gears up, puts on his serious<br />
face and sets to work.....to reach his goal of picking up the No.1 Junior<br />
Open title.<br />
Connor <strong>co</strong>mes from a family that has grown up racing. His dad and<br />
uncle both raced Kart Sport and Speedway........but Connor is the first<br />
to take up bikes as opposed to 4 wheels.<br />

Pocket Bikes, or Minimoto as it is also known started in Italy<br />
and has been the sport that propelled many GP riders you see<br />
on the circuits today, including Rossi.<br />
The bikes <strong>co</strong>me in many forms, from $200 Chinese replicas ....<br />
to $10,000 race bred Italian machines....but don’t be fooled by<br />
the replica status of these bike....Connor’s machines are <strong>co</strong>pies<br />
of the Italian ZPF. The ZPF, imported by Greg Oldridge of<br />
www.xminimoto.<strong>co</strong>.<strong>nz</strong> has beaten many of the Euro bikes<br />
available in NZ, including taking out the 2008 Senior 19 class<br />
with his son Aaron piloting.
