Fine particles of active ingredients can adhere more readily to the large, rough surface of the calcium phosphates to enhance effective mixing. The granular excipients can be seen to be aggregates of crystalline particles. DI-TAB ® and A-TAB ® compact via a brittle fracture mechanism, forming clean surfaces for good bonding. TRI-TAB ® compacts primarily by plastic deformation. 7
