entrepreneurship in Israel, accomplishing this through a nationwide<br />
organization of 18 offices. ATS h<strong>as</strong> raised more than $1.3 billion since its<br />
founding in 1940.<br />
Israel’s only natural resource is the brainpower of its people, and<br />
Technion graduates are the leading engineers, high-tech professionals,<br />
managers and entrepreneurs that power Israel’s economy. Technion’s<br />
research and entrepreneurship now extend beyond Israel’s borders, truly<br />
making a global impact. In 2011, a partnership w<strong>as</strong> announced between<br />
Cornell University and the Technion with the purpose of creating a<br />
high-tech university on New York’s Roosevelt Island.<br />
The Northwest Chapter of the ATS offers events, seminars and networking<br />
sessions with Israel’s premier scientific, educational and business<br />
leaders, along with a variety of charitable giving opportunities. These<br />
range from endowing and naming buildings, labora<strong>to</strong>ries and chairs in the<br />
Technion’s 18 academic faculties, <strong>to</strong> supporting fellowships, scholarships,<br />
counseling and <strong>as</strong>sistance <strong>to</strong> Technion students.<br />
The ATS is constantly expanding its efforts <strong>to</strong> ensure the Technion’s<br />
continued excellence and achievements, inviting new supporters <strong>to</strong> join<br />
in its cause: To enable the Technion <strong>to</strong> continue <strong>to</strong> be among the world’s<br />
leading institutions, improving the well being of Israel and all humanity<br />
through leadership in science and technology.<br />

Since 1913, the Anti-Defamation League h<strong>as</strong> worked <strong>to</strong> fulfill its mission,<br />
“To s<strong>to</strong>p the defamation of the <strong>Jewish</strong> people [and] <strong>to</strong> secure justice and<br />
fair treatment for all people alike.” With 30 regional offices in the United<br />
States and satellite offices around the world, the ADL is a leader in the fight<br />
against anti-Semitism, prejudice and bigotry, and a defender of democratic<br />
ideals and civil rights for all.<br />
The Pacific Northwest regional office, b<strong>as</strong>ed in Seattle, works with a<br />
network of dedicated staff and volunteers <strong>to</strong> protect communities throughout<br />
W<strong>as</strong>hing<strong>to</strong>n, Oregon, Al<strong>as</strong>ka, Idaho and Montana. The ADL regional<br />
office h<strong>as</strong> a wide selection of materials, programs and services intended<br />
<strong>to</strong> build bridges of communication, understanding and respect among<br />
diverse racial, religious and ethnic groups.<br />
Regional priorities include:<br />
• Advocacy for individuals experiencing discrimination and/or<br />
har<strong>as</strong>sment in the workplace, at school, in housing, and in all other<br />
activities and locations.<br />
• Workshops for <strong>Jewish</strong> teens <strong>to</strong> explore the roots of anti-Semitism and <strong>to</strong><br />
learn effective responses <strong>to</strong> anti-Semitic comments and slurs often<br />
encountered in schools, on the playground, and in the community.<br />
• No Place for Hate recognition opportunities for individual schools and<br />
school districts, providing schools with specific steps <strong>to</strong> earn special<br />
designation <strong>as</strong> a “No Place for Hate school” each academic year.<br />
• Anti-bullying and cyber-bullying programs <strong>to</strong> empower students,<br />
educa<strong>to</strong>rs and other leaders <strong>to</strong> stand up <strong>to</strong> prejudice and create inclusive<br />
learning environments for all students. Interactive workshops provide<br />
students and educa<strong>to</strong>rs with strategies <strong>to</strong> challenge racism, anti-Semitism,<br />
homophobia, and bigotry in all its forms.<br />
• Gl<strong>as</strong>s Leadership Institute for emerging community leaders, providing<br />
monthly learning opportunities and an annual trip <strong>to</strong> W<strong>as</strong>hing<strong>to</strong>n, D.C.<br />
<strong>to</strong> lobby legisla<strong>to</strong>rs on Capi<strong>to</strong>l Hill.<br />
• Civil rights advocacy work with legislative and judicial branches of<br />
government <strong>to</strong> protect all individuals.<br />
• Safeguarding the separation of religion and state in schools and in the<br />
public square.<br />
• Critical resources for local and regional law enforcement regarding hate<br />
groups and extremist organizations.<br />
• Ongoing education for community members regarding anti-Semitism<br />
and security awareness training for local institutions.<br />
