<strong>to</strong> who they are <strong>as</strong> Jews and <strong>as</strong> people in modern society. Long after their<br />
days at camp are over, they will have values and friendships which will<br />
affect their decisions <strong>as</strong> adults.<br />
There are two three-week-long sessions offered during the summer, with<br />
a special one-week program for first-time campers completing 2nd and 3rd<br />
grade, and a two-week program for those in 3rd and 4th grade. A special<br />
eight-week program is offered for counselor training (Madatz). This is a<br />
<strong>Jewish</strong> experience not <strong>to</strong> be missed!<br />

Project SEED offers vibrant, interactive <strong>Jewish</strong> learning “beis-medr<strong>as</strong>h<br />
style” for men and high school boys with individual attention and instruction<br />
by SEED chavrus<strong>as</strong> brought <strong>to</strong> Seattle from out-of-<strong>to</strong>wn yeshiv<strong>as</strong>.<br />
Boys SEED Camp, under the direction of Rabbi Yehuda Bresler, provides<br />
a wholesome Torah learning experience for boys grades 3 and up with<br />
the yeshiva boys in a friendly and safe environment. Boys’ SEED offers<br />
extended hours for b<strong>as</strong>eball in the park after morning learning.<br />

An overnight camp, Sephardic Adventure Camp starts at the end of June<br />
and runs through the first week of July (times vary each year). The camp<br />
is offered <strong>to</strong> children in 2nd–9th grades. Tenth graders may apply <strong>to</strong> take<br />
part in a counselors-in-training program, and those in 11th grade and up<br />
may apply <strong>to</strong> be counselors.<br />
After the overnight camp, Sephardic Day Camp begins for children from<br />

preschool through 8th grade. Older children may apply <strong>to</strong> be counselors.<br />
Both camps exhibit strong Sephardic traditions along with an e<strong>as</strong>ygoing<br />
camp atmosphere.<br />

SJCC summer day camp h<strong>as</strong> a 50-year tradition of excellence, with a<br />
variety of camp experiences for ages 5–16. Staff members encourage <strong>Jewish</strong><br />
values such <strong>as</strong> helping others (tzedakah), welcoming everyone (hachn<strong>as</strong>at<br />
orachim), and respecting each other (derech eretz).<br />
Camp sessions range from one <strong>to</strong> three weeks and include sports,<br />
performing arts, science, arts and crafts, and specialty camps such <strong>as</strong><br />
pho<strong>to</strong>graphy, robotics, junior lifeguards, and iPad animation.<br />
Camps are offered on both the SJCC Mercer Island campus and in<br />
Seattle at Seattle <strong>Jewish</strong> Community School. Morning and afternoon care<br />
are available, <strong>as</strong> is transportation from are<strong>as</strong> of greater Seattle, Bellevue,<br />
and Redmond.<br />
Camp Katan: Just for first-time campers entering kindergarten. Camp<br />
Katan campers explore art, drama, science, nature, sports, music, s<strong>to</strong>rytelling,<br />
and daily ruach (spirit).<br />
Camp Kef: Kef means “fun” — that’s why generations of families return<br />
<strong>to</strong> Camp Kef every summer for sports, nature, arts and crafts, Judaic<br />
projects, cooking, and field trips. For kids in grades K–8.<br />
Performing Arts Camp: SJCC Performing Arts Camp is for kids in<br />
grades 1–10. Campers spend their days singing, dancing, acting, and<br />
rehearsing for their own production. The program includes on-stage<br />
performances, field trips <strong>to</strong> local theaters, and visits from guest artists.<br />
