Overview <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>CCPMO</strong><br />

Figure 5 displays <strong>the</strong> split in employment between <strong>the</strong> public and private<br />

sectors. For <strong>the</strong> three organisations for which this information is available, <strong>the</strong><br />

majority <strong>of</strong> students work in <strong>the</strong> private sector – with a sizeable minority<br />

engaged in <strong>the</strong> public sector.<br />

2.4 O<strong>the</strong>r education and training activities<br />

2.4.1 Training<br />

As well as developing formal qualifications, pr<strong>of</strong>essional bodies also engage<br />

in a much wider range <strong>of</strong> education and training activities. This includes a<br />

number <strong>of</strong> seminars and one-day training courses covering an array <strong>of</strong><br />

relevant topics, as well as smaller scale programmes <strong>of</strong> talks and networking<br />

events (<strong>of</strong>ten organised at a branch level).<br />

In addition, each <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>essional bodies <strong>of</strong>fers tailored training solutions<br />

to employers. This includes identifying skills gaps, <strong>of</strong>fering internal training<br />

courses (sometimes leading to formal qualifications), and designing ongoing<br />

in-house training schemes. These training solutions are provided to a full<br />

range <strong>of</strong> organisations – from very large firms to small and medium-size<br />

enterprises.<br />
