Year 4 go to the Crocodile
Park and the Butterfly
Farm
When Year 4’s trip day finally
arrived, the air was full of
excitement and anticipation!
During the morning, we
arrived at the Butterfly Park,
Benalmádena, where we
admired the beautiful Chinesestyle
architecture. Inside we
did a craft activity, making
giant paper butterflies which
helped us to learn the parts of
a butterfly. The guides said
we were very polite and well
behaved.
Later our guide took us around
the park where we saw some
beautiful butterflies and the
world’s largest moth! We
were also allowed to see the
butterflies coming out of the
chrysalis and learned about
their life cycle. When we held
an old moth´s cocoon it was
as light as a feather. As we
spent time watching butterflies
feed on sweet nectar, and
taking photographs, butterflies
of all colours fluttered around
our heads! It was a very
peaceful experience.
After visiting the shop to
spend all our money on
butterfly gifts, we got back on
the coach and headed towards
Torremolinos. When we
arrived at the Crocodile Park,
we were greeted by our guide
who took us to an indoor area
to see the crocodiles, which he
has worked with for many
years. To provoke them into
moving he poked their backs
with a stick and immediately
they snapped and growled .
Although standing very close
to them, they didn’t attack
him as they knew he was in
charge!
After this, we saw a large
group of crocodiles being fed
small pieces of chicken, which
was just a snack to them! As
the chicken was thrown, the
crocodiles surged forward to
grab them in their powerful
jaws. We found out that a
fully grown crocodile has the
power of 400 kilograms in its
jaw when it bites, so we
definitely didn’t want to be
their dinner!
Finally, we were able to hold a
baby crocodile in our hands
(don’t worry, it had its mouth
taped tightly closed!) which
was another opportunity for
photographs to recount the
day.
Before we got on the bus to
come back to school, we were
complemented yet again by
the staff at the centre about
our wonderful behavior and
enthusiasm! What a fantastic
day! If you want to come and
see our photographs we took,
you are welcome to pass by
the Year 4 classrooms to see
them on display – you might
even find out who won our
photograph competition!

A Request for Help
As you may be aware KS2 are
currently practising for our
end of year performance” on
Wednesday 22 nd of June. We
are asking for some help
providing props for the show.
If you can help us provide any
of the following items, please
bring them to Mr Finca´s class
no later than Friday 17 th of
June.
The items we are looking for
are:
• Step Ladder.
• Box of goodies( plastic
cakes, bacon etc).
• Cudgel.
• Door Knocker.
• Doormat.
• Variety of plastic food.
• Champagne bottle.
• Plastic handcuffs.
• Train station sign.
• Whistle.
• Bandages.
• Plastic weapons.
• Party hats and plastic
wine glasses.
• Table tea set.
• Plastic mobile phone.
• Plastic flowers.
• Gifts.

Family Passwords
At the start of this academic
year we asked that parents
supply us with a family
password. We wanted to have
a method of verifying that if a
person came to a collect a
child who we do not know we
can ask them to give us the
family password to be
reassured that the person has
the family´s permission. If
you have not supplied us with
a password already please can
you send an email to Belen
with the password for your

Book Fair
Glitterati in Centro Diana are
holding a book fair on
Thursday 16th. June. It will
held in the entrance hall.
Children will be able to buy
during the afternoon when
they visit the fair with their
classes and the fair will be
open after school for parents
as well as children.
Yana Rovner
We have received this great
bit of news from Yana’s family.
“Last weekend (June 4, 2011)
Yana performed with the
hoop for the Andalucia
Championships and she came
6th. This is a great
achievement for Yana. Her
teacher and all her family are
very proud about Yana's
results”.
Year 4 Second Hand Sale
Class 4dC will be doing a
SECOND HALE STUFF sale
everyday after school next
week. Everything on sale will
cost either 50c, 1€ or 2€ so
please bring your money.
All money raised will be going
to our school charity.
Also, if you have any
unwanted but sellable items
that 4dC could sell on your
behalf, please bring them in as
soon as possible. These could
be books, toys, games,
clothes, CDs, DVDs, stationery
etc…..
