The Holocaust was thesystematic, bureaucratic, statesponsoredpersecution and murder ofapproximately six million Jews by theNazi regime and its collaborators.Every year on 27 <strong>Jan</strong>uary, the worldmarks Holocaust Memorial Day(HMD). Holocaust Memorial Dayprovides an opportunity for everyoneto learn lessons from the Holocaustand Nazi persecution and apply themto the present day to create a safer,better future. On this date we haveshared the memory of the millionswho have been murdered in theHolocaust in order to challengehatred and persecution today. Ourstudents will write a letter to one ofthe survivors of the Holocaustexplaining that they have juststudied the Holocaust at school. Theywill include the following:• what they know andunderstand about theHolocaust• how they feel about theHolocaust• why we should rememberthe HolocaustMr. F. Studentshave been looking at stir frying as amethod of cooking and learning howto safely use a Wok!Stir-frying is a method of quickcooking that is very popularthroughout Asia, particularly China.You don’t have to have a wok to stirfry;you can use a large heavy basedfrying pan instead. Marchand - Head of SecondaryThe Inter Schools Cross CountryChampionship was kindly hosted bySt Anthony’s <strong>College</strong> on the 25<strong>Jan</strong>uary 2012. Nine participatingschools on the Costa del Sol took upthe challenge, all showing a very highstandard of performance. Thedetermination and enthusiasm wasclearly seen by the <strong>Laude</strong> team whichwas made up of students rangingfrom Year 5 to Year 12, with over 60pupils in the team. The runnersbattled their way through the difficultcourse, with all the students arrivingat the finish line, and many giving the<strong>Laude</strong> team a position in the first ten,thus awarding points for <strong>Laude</strong>. At theresults and awards presentation,<strong>Laude</strong> was given 4 th place out of thenine participating schools. It was agreat achievement and achampionship worthy of repeating.Miss O.
