No person may hold more than one of the <strong>for</strong>egoing offices at the<br />

same time.<br />

Section 2. Elective Divan<br />

The Potentate, Chief Rabban, Assistant Rabban, High Priest and<br />

Prophet, Oriental Guide, Treasurer, and Recorder shall be elected annually<br />

by ballot and shall constitute the official Divan of the <strong>Temple</strong>.<br />

Section 3. Appointive <strong>Officers</strong><br />

The First Ceremonial Master, Second Ceremonial Master, Director,<br />

Marshal, Captain of the Guard, and Outer Guard shall be appointed<br />

annually by the Potentate.<br />

Section 4. Election<br />

(a) The officers named in Section 2 above shall be elected at the<br />

regular stated meeting of the <strong>Temple</strong> held on the second Thursday in<br />

December. Election shall be by separate written ballot and by a majority<br />

vote of those present and voting. A blanket ballot is prohibited.<br />

Balloting shall commence not later than 9 o’clock p.m.; when that<br />

hour arrives, all other business shall cease and none other shall be<br />

transacted until the election is concluded. All candidates <strong>for</strong> office,<br />

including the office of Imperial Representative, must be placed in<br />

nomination from the floor.<br />

Amend 2000 & Imperial 2001<br />

(b) The following shall govern the election of Imperial Representatives:<br />

(1) All candidates must be balloted <strong>for</strong> on one written ballot.<br />

(2) Each member voting must vote only <strong>for</strong> the total number<br />

Representatives to be elected; otherwise his ballot cannot be counted<br />

as a vote.<br />

(3) A majority vote of members present and voting is necessary<br />

to elect each Representative.<br />

(4) Only those candidates who receive a majority vote shall be<br />

declared elected.
