Athletes sign letters of intent<br />

Brown receives ROTC scholarship<br />

James Brown has been selected to<br />

receive a full Marine Corp ROTC<br />

scholarship. James is the son of James<br />

and Catherine Brown of St. John’s parish<br />

in Lincoln. While at <strong>Pius</strong> X James was<br />

awarded varsity letters in football and<br />

track. He was also an Air Force Junior<br />

ROTC at Northeast <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> and a volunteer midget<br />

football coach. James plans to attend UNL his freshman<br />

year and then transfer to UCLA where he was assigned to<br />

complete his degree in aerospace engineering.<br />

Ten athletes signed letters of intent this spring to participate in<br />

collegiate sports. Pictured above (left to right) are as follows:<br />

Three are Confirmed<br />

One teacher and two students at <strong>Pius</strong> X entered the Church<br />

this spring. Pictured (left to right) are Gina Bartels,<br />

math teacher, who was confirmed at the Easter Vigil at<br />

the Cathedral of the Risen Christ, Nick Daily, who was<br />

confirmed at the Cathedral of the Risen Christ on April 29<br />

and Amanda Carrell, who was confirmed at the Easter Vigil<br />

at St. Teresa.<br />

Retired staff reminisce<br />

Last fall Allie Falter (left) signed a letter of intent to play<br />

volleyball for Bradley University and Jamie Schleppenbach<br />

(right) signed to participate on the gymnastics team for the<br />

University of Nebraska-Lincoln.<br />

Brandon Otoski has also signed a letter of<br />

intent to play tennis at the University of<br />

Nebraska-Omaha<br />

The retired staff of <strong>Pius</strong> X and their spouses met on Jan. 6,<br />

at the Olive Garden restaurant for dinner and reminiscing<br />

of their combined 124 years at <strong>Pius</strong> X. Pictured from left to<br />
