2009-2010 Annual Appeal reaches new record of $206,000
Congratulations! Donations this year to the Annual Appeal
not only brought together people by renewing friendships
and making new ones, but set a new all-time high record!
Your contributions helped us surpass our goal. This
accomplishment was achieved by the outstanding efforts
of many alumni, parents, local businesses and friends from
all over the country who so generously support Catholic
education. Gifts to this year’s Appeal ranged anywhere from
$10 to $10,000, and each and every gift is truly appreciated!
Because of the generosity of gifts received from the Annual
Appeal, the Foundation was able to distribute over $340,000
to the high school during the 2009-2010 school year, which
helped with the following:
• Assisted in bridging the gap between tuition charged and
the cost of educating our students (gap was $1,135)
• Provided tuition assistance and scholarship aid to 63
students valued at $29,175
• Provided overall support of our operating budget (including
teacher salaries)
As of April 27, participation rose to 1,603 gifts. In total Pius
X raised over $206,000 and is the most in Annual Appeal
history! Of this amount, approximately $10,500 has been
designated for endowed scholarships. Pledges are currently
trickling in, and every donation, large or small, is greatly
appreciated. If you haven’t given to the Annual Appeal yet,
you still have time! We can receive donations for this year’s
Appeal until June 30, which is the end of our fiscal year.
Serving on the committee to head this worthwhile project
were John ’80 and Kelly ’80 Morehouse, alumni chairs,
and Therese Sack ’78, alumni co-chair. Parent chairs were
Patti Clarence and Georgeanne Rashilla (freshman chairs),
Darla Ernst and Kathy Rentschler (sophomore chairs),
Laura Duggan and Joe and Sophia Werning (junior chairs)
and Nancy Johnson and K.C. Williams (senior chairs). The
enthusiasm shared by these chairpersons was fantastic and
the momentum spread to once again guarantee the success of
this important endeavor.
The entire Pius X family appreciates all of the support the
school has received in making this dream a reality for the
young people we serve.
Pius X High School is proud of the stewardship of its funds.
The mission of the Lincoln Catholic Schools has always been
to keep tuition at an affordable level for all families. The cost
per student is a little over $5,000. This compares to an average
state cost of $10,060 per student (2007-2008 numbers). For the
2009-2010 school year, tuition and fees made up 32.51 percent
of our school’s operating budget. The above chart shows a
comparison to other faith-based schools in Lincoln and the
Archdiocese of Omaha.
